some are saying broke Chelsea are willing to let him go for 12-16m to fund more transfers. Liverpool and Arsenal are interested, and it wouldn't suprise me if we went in for him for that sort of money. He's a class act, and would be better than Cisse, Ronaldo etc. if he was so cheap. Rio and EG for 50m would do for me. :D

You obviously didn't grasp my point Paul. I was suggesting Gudjohnsen for 10-16m would be far better business than Ronnie or Cisse for upwards of 25m. He has Premiership experience, is young and would suit our style of play. Plus if we wanted Rio for about 30m the PLC would love to sign someone cheap. I agree defenders are our main target, but we also need a another striker to replace Disco.
 
Disco is still with us mate!!

I doubt the board would keep 5 highly paid strikers on the books at the same time!


10-16m for Gudjohnson is not cheap....

3. Gudjohnsen has the potential to be a great player - and he has a commodity we need to add to our strikers - blinding pace - fair enough i know diego has quick feet, but he still needs more time, i would imagine.

But then again if we are talking pace and power - then Ronaldo is the ultimate - sorry i'm bias, if there is another striker to come to old trafford this season, i'm praying to God its Ronaldo, just look at his w/c performances, the guy is hungrier than ever, its attitude along with unbelievable ability, that we need to inject into our squad, for a league and cl bid next season.
 
Gudjohnsen would be an excellent signing... he reads the game well, is an accurate shooter of the ball plus I know him personally :) But Chelsea would be crazy to part with Eidur at this point of his career...

The point is well made. Obviously defenders are a priority but given the transfer of Cole, the pending departure of Yorke and the yet to be established Forlan, we are short in that department and need to sign another striker. Gudjohnsen would fit the bill nicely.
 
I think Gudjohnsen is too similar to Rvn and Ole.Just my opinion.
 
Gudjohnsen can play in the hole imo. But I doubt Sir Alex would think of it :(

1. Dwight will be on his way in close-season to whichever poor sods want him.

2. You really don't get it. The point is Cisse and ROnaldo are among the strikers that have been linked to us, and they would cost over 10m more than Gudjohnsen, so he is cheap. :rolleyes:

Cigar:

Cisse will be atleast 25m because he is waiting another year before leaving France, enough time to get more experience in International and CL football. Understand ? ;)

For those who keep bitching on about the defence read my second post in this thread ! :rolleyes:
 
The defence is priority, but then the REAL aim is to win things. For that its not "we need this first THEN that", its a case of "we need this, this and this - go get it." No matter the piece, if one is missing, the jigsaw is not complete.

Theres no doubt about it, if we dont get a new striker and get rid of Yorke, we wont win jack next year, we'll probably finish about 6th. WHY? Cos this year RVN and Ole were OUTSTANDINGLY AWESOME. These two carried us through this year into 3rd place, particularly Ruuds record breaking run.

But we relied on them too much and they both burned out. Next year I doubt they can be outstandingly awesome again. Thats where squad comes in.

We NEED a new striker OR we need one of our midfielders to suddenly shine as a link up man i.e. Giggs - meaning we'd need a new left wing.

Not only to complete the squad, but to give more options, more freshness. Gudjohnsen is a great player, he can give us the pace we lack if not the creative genius.

But I think a link up/creative striker is what we really need.
