Greyed out formatting buttons

All the formatting buttons are greyed out. The preview button is the only non-greyed out button.

When I toggle the preview button (on the far right) on and off, nothing happens.

Any ideas how to resolve this?

If all of the formatting options when you post are greyed out, press the [ ] icon, which looks like this and that will restore the formatting functionality.
