Gaming Grand Theft Auto VI

Nah the Houser brothers consider themselves as story tellers. They'd go big on both.

I think this will be out sooner than people think. There's not a lot you can do to milk RDR online. Maybe horse armour or faster horses.

feck horses

I'm not as excited about this as I would have been once upon a time. It's been all downhill since San Andreas for me.

You grew up that's what happened.

I think more than anything I didn't enjoy the stories anywhere near as much to be honest rather than some nostalgia thing. Also for some reason despite being bigger games they felt somehow smaller.

San Andreas almost felt immersive at the time. That's the problem with multiple characters that have strong personalities, I think. You can't get into it quite as much. The street gangster scenario is great as well. The first section of that game that focusses on that is so much fun in a GTA world. They basically skipped that bit in GTA V to get on with telling the group story.
I'd like to see a Latin gangster one (MS13 parody?) with a big focus on being in the hood at the start again. Taking over territory and the like was good fun. Would bring the kid out in me again.

LA is so perfect too, because it's hugely varied and full of the kind of characters that can easily be parodied. NYC similarly, maybe on a slightly lesser scale.
I'm not sure anywhere else comes close. Maybe Tokyo? Or a South American province, but I can't see that. Just doesn't seem their style.
Not fussed about London personally.

I know they've said they'd like multiple places they've had in the past again....maybe Vegas, LA and a new one in Mexico could work?

I wouldn't mind it being set in Vice City again, it's been 15 years since Vice City came out but I would like to see a new city. Question is which city is interesting enough to do and is in America?

NYC has been done to death
Chicago is too similar
Las Vegas would be pretty bland beyond the casinos
San Francisco might be OK and just different enough from LA.
Texas might be good as a setting but I don't know if one Texas city is interesting enough to set a gta game in. Maybe a combination along with a Mexican border city might make for an interesting game.

London would be a great choice but if they want to keep it as a parody of American culture then I guess Miami or SF are the best two they could do.
Chicago in the 1920s would be awesome with story lines around Italian mafia, Jewish mafia and Irish mafia.

They can't do London because British cities aren't built according to block grid structure. Rockstar themselves mentioned this is why a London one hasn't been done thus far. It's too difficult to implement.
GTA Milton Keynes!

It won't be out for another 3 years at least. They will be milking GTA5 online for as long as they can while putting all their resources into it (it's much cheaper this way). RDR2 is out in 2018 so I think GTA6 will come out ca. 2021-2022.

Vice city for me. Still think there's a great deal they can do there whether revisiting the 80's, the 90's or present day.

Just hope they get Ray Liotta in there for a Tommy Vercetti cameo.

Not happening. He refused to appear in San Andrea due to wanting more money. He was a pain to work with apparently. He's one of the reasons they don't use celebrity voice actors anymore.

@VeevaVee
Why not change this thread to "Suggestions for GTA6" ?
We can then send them the ideas if they seem popular by using their Submit a Suggestion button on their website.

But Ken Rosenberg connected GTA:VC and GTA:SA.

Either way, :(

That was the 3D universe. Characters from the 3D universe don't exist in the HD universe.

3D Universe:
GTA III
GTA Vice City
GTA San Andreas
GTA Liberty City Stories
GTA Vice City Stories

HD Universe:
GTA IV
GTA V

Are you sure this is right? I'm sure there were a few connections/mentions? Can't remember them now without looking it up

As mentioned before there is Lazlow if you want to count him but none of the storyline characters from the 3D universe appear in the HD universe.

I've lost all faith in GTA. How can they parody America when they've become a parody themselves. I bet it'll be a fun game, worth a play through, but it wont be anywhere near as fun as it could be like GTA V everything will be online and pay to have fun. I actually find it quite sad, GTA III to San Andreas were a huge part of my childhood.

Why do people keep making assumptions like this?

They don't really know much about the Houser brothers then. They both see themselves as Hollywood writers and I highly doubt they going to dumb down the single player.

Plus a separate team is in charge of GTA online. The online mode doesn't require the whole rockstar studios. There's about four or five involved.

Because it already happened with GTA V, and it proved more lucrative that they could ever imagined.

What happened with GTA V? Pretty sure it had a long story and three characters for the first time. I didn't see any half arsed single player.

Well there was supposed to be a DLC or 2 for single player mode, but after the main man left and sued them that was shelved for countless online DLC's

The original and Vice were my faves. SA was a bit bloated for me. IV and V were good fun, but the differences weren't enough to elevate them, for me.

Supposed to be? It was never announced because the DLC last gen flopped. Take two weren't keen on DLC. If it actually made them money last gen they would have milked it. So blame all the people who didn't buy the DLC last gen.

It needs to something new and fresh because as it is GTA5 is as perfect as it comes, Vegas-esque seems about right because it would allow them to add in a massive gambling aspect which I don't think the series has really touched upon.

I'm not sure what's up with the comment above about the parody, GTA5 was flawless, I haven't even touched online, but it's there for people who want it, as a single player, it was fantastic beyond belief though, and I can still throw it in and enjoy the hell out of it. More so than 4, which itself only gets flack because well it's not quite SA or 5.

But as I said, it's gotta move to gambling....

That would be cool.

I really enjoyed the Godfather and Scarface PS2 games. Surprised they never did any sequels.

That would be a huge change for GTA, I think a female protagonist would be more likely.

I really don't think R* would go back beyond the 70s.

Aren't the Mafia games just that ? It a bit sad that the new Mafia was sort of shite as the setting was great.

@horsechoker is right, HD Universe and 3D don't officially connect - there are a few crossovers mind, things like the brand names - Burger Shot, Cluckin Bell, Gruppe-6 etc. Then there's Lazlow of course, plus a few Easter eggs (OG Loc's CD in Niko and Roman's apartment, and CJ seen parachuting on TV in GTA 4) but these don't mean much.

Anyway, I'll look forward to VI as much as the rest, I just hope and pray that a) The single player story and world is the main focus and isn't neglected for the sake of the online cash cow and b) that the PC version isn't two years behind the console again and c) good anti aliasing.
