Out of a job for 18 months following Chelsea departure and probably still on their payroll while he waits out for the England job.

Hard luck I guess? So what’s his next move?

I'd be very happy to see him at United.

I know many would disagree after what happened at Chelsea, but i think with the right structure behind him he would be a very good manager.

I’ve said on here a few times that I’d be open to him and think he’d potentially do very well

My concern is that he’s happily sat out the game for so long to collect his full Chelsea wage.

After ten hag, a man who’d be happy coming 2nd in a single match, I really want a manager with ruthless ambition

I don’t think Dyche is long for Everton. New owners. New stadium. I think they’ll go after Potter.

But if Spurs opens up then I’m sure Potter would prefer that

Surprised he didn’t get a mention for England job.

I've always wanted a manager who looks like a low-res face scan used for a minor side quest character in a medieval themed open world game.

"Let me just fix the hat before we launch the game."
"Nah, mate. Boss wants all resources put into micro transactions. Nobody will even find this quest anyway."

Definitely screams Spurs or Everton.

He interviewed for the Lyon and Ajax jobs, no? So he wasn't exactly sat around doing nothing. Not sure which side made the decision in those cases but given how poorly both sides performed following their managerial appointments I don't think you can say he missed out much.

He’ll turn up at some mid table club in the next few months, once one of them has sacked their manager.

If you just looked at the face and hat he does look like a country bumpkin. Hes just missing a bit of straw hanging from his mouth and a Cornish accent

Looks like Henry VIII before he discovered chips.

I don't think we'll be seeing him anytime soon. Isn't he still being paid by Chelsea his weekly salary?

Final payment was this month apparently - probably explains why he popped up as a pundit on Sky a couple of weeks ago!

Yep, must be on the breadline and immediately need any gig he can get,

Pretty sure he was in Witcher 3

Potter is a good manager. The situation at Chelsea was bizarre. I don’t know if he’s the right appointment for United, but we need to start looking at appointments as coaches not managers. Adhering to a greater philosophy and methodology. I do know he is much better than the coach we have, whether that’s a high enough bar to clear, I am not really sure of.

I was surprised West Ham didn't consider him in the summer. Not sure Lopetegui will last the season so possibly wait until xmas and see if that comes up again.

Wolves or Everton more likely.

 Brilliant.

He could be straight out of Kingdom Come Deliverance or Skyrim, as a blacksmith.

Never noticed the Matt Hancock resemblance before

I thought Potter would be a good choice for an interim had EtH been sacked after Villa. My thinking was that he'd be more open to an interim position than someone like Tuchel who'd want the job permanently since Potter's standing at managing top clubs is low. Then one of three scenarios could play out-

-He does well and manages to get top 4, we hand him an 18 month deal to keep proving himself.

-He does poorly and is gone at the end of the season as his interim deal expired.

-He does well but is still replaced with a higher rated coach who was unattainable mid-season.

Thought it could give INEOS some flexibility in decision making while getting us out of the EtH predicament for now. But all that has gone up in smoke as we've hitched ourselves to the EtH train inexplicably.

The lack of other options, the dire state Ten Hag has us in, the passage of time, and Southgate, seems to be what is softening some people's opinion on Potter, more than them genuinely thinking he going to be one to finally turn is around for us.

Just don't see it myself.

A very good manager. Had a great time at Brighton, a dreadful time at Chelsea, but I’d always be wary of taking anyone who is trending in the wrong direction like that.
