from Ananova:

Manchester United keeper Raimond van der Gouw is on the verge of signing for Coventry City.

The Dutchman's Old Trafford contract expires at the end of the month, and he is expected to join the First Division outfit.

"Raimond has been made an offer and he has gone away to think about it," said Coventry chairman Mike McGinnity.

"The talks went well and we are hopeful that he will sign."

he's done rather well for the club, considering he was always back-up. He never complained, and that imo is the mark of a great pro. :)

He's been a loyal servant over the last few years...Rai has come in and not dissapointed when needed.

Wish him all the best.

good luck Rai.
stokey coventry, sell their world cup keeper and replace him with a free transfer 38 year old. Could be worse i suppose, could have been Andy Goram ;)

Good luck Raimond van Der Gouw. I am sure you should be playing at a higher level, lets hope you get to play in the premiership with Coventry City.

Rai, I'm sure you're reading this. Care to comment on kevthered of redish who said he had insider info that you were on your way to West Ham.

Thanks Rai.

From BBC:
Manchester United goalkeeper Raimond van der Gouw is expected to join West Ham United on a one-year contract.
The 38-year-old had been considering an offer from Coventry City, but the lure of Premiership football has proved too much.

He is out of contract at Old Trafford and so able to join the Hammers as a free agent.

Man Utd duo on the move

David James is expected to remain as West Ham's first-choice goalkeeper, with Van der Gouw challenging as his understudy.

The Dutchman joined Manchester United from Vitesse Arnhem in July 1996. He has made just 26 Premiership starts during his Old Trafford career.

Van der Gouw signed as second choice to Peter Schmeichel and then, following the Dane's departure, filled a similar role after Fabian Barthez arrived at the club.

His first-team opportunities further dwindled after United signed Roy Carroll from Wigan last summer and he made just one Premiership appearance last season, against Charlton in May.

Van der Gouw's United team-mate Ronnie Wallwork is also out of contract and is expected to join Premiership new boys West Bromwich Albion.

Considering kev is also saying or hinting that Keano is retiring on July 5th, maybe we should be worried.
