Just seen it. If you have read the books then you might be a little disappointed but it was not all bad. There were some fantastic moments and performances. Nicole Kidman was brilliant, the girl who played Lyra was good and Ian Mckellen was good as Iorek Byrinson.

Couple pretty impressive fight scenes with Iorek and some other bears.

The ending was beyond confusing as it seemd to be cut very very short and did not end where the book did. Only thing i can think is that because the Subtle Knife was quite short, they have cut Northern Lights short and tacked it onto the beginning of the next film (but i am only guessing).

Looks like a right family movie...How was Daniel Craig?
Based on the character that is described in the book he is crap, but his acting is fine. Basically the character Lord Asriel has a real presence in the books but just dont see it in Craig.

Being a fan of the books, i've been waiting for this one for a while now. Hoping not to be disappointed.

Just saw this movie. It`s a beautiful piece of film, but I felt it was a bit short. It could easily have lasted another hour, I got the feeling we were just racing through it. The little girl was quite impressive, Nicole Kidman was fit. I haven`t read the books, but maybe I`ll consider it now.

It was very much a like LoR though, the story was basically the same I felt, LoR meets Harry Potter or something like that.

The books are far better. I kept checking my watch during the film because (knowing roughly where the book and therefore the film would end) i was sure it was going to end very quickly. And it did. To be honest you could have made an excellent 5 hour film out of the book. It should have been atleast 2-2.30 hours.

Read the books if you get the time. They are fantastic. Many will claim they are kids books but i think they are a little more advanced than that. With out giving to much away there is some great theological questions which arise from it and some subtle references to the chuch and Opus Dei.
