For having a go at Gerrard fro giving the ball away. They are all complaining that saying GNeb gave the ball away every time he touched it.

Strange really, because defensively GNev had a great game. He had the right side of our defence covered brilliantly. The only time someone did anything was what Gerrard was beaten all hands down and the Slovak cross led to the Slovak goal.

Strange how these blind scousers miss things like that.....

They all gave the ball away incessantly, Gary and Gerrard included and Gerrard so much he was subbed!

You seriously think Scouser are going to have any positive thoughts about Gary Nev.? Job well done imo - good defensive game, and pisses off the scousers at the same time. :)

Gary Neville is a red.........

I have to say that Gary, and the rest of the defence, kept hoofing the ball forward as England always do under Sven. fecking annoying it is. I think playing Owen and Heskey up front makes the team play long ball, if we put a Vassell or a Smith or Scholes up front, then we could have a more linked together and passing side. It was atrocious football.

I think that Gerrard standard for England has declined ever since the German match. Beckham is being praised for his performances in an England shirt, and rightly so, but I feel it is because he is doing Gerrards job as well as his own. Pool supporters come on here comparing Gerrard to Beckham and Keane, he doesn't come close and is actually going in the other direction. He is going to be dropped if he continues to play as he has done over the last year at international level. Butt is becoming a big fav of SGE.

But on a pitch like that, can you risk playing the ball out of defence. The big boot was the safe option.

They did, and for most of the game they looked better than us! The amount of possession they had was silly.

I completely agree. I am not saying GNev's passing was good, just that they are so blinkered into think Gerrard played well.

It's true.. everytime i see Heskey on the pitch for England i go "Oh No, not again"

We play ridiculous football with Heskey as the forward. We revert back to the long ball system that would never get us anywhere in today's game...

then again Neil, I think we have to accept the fact that if we play Owen with Vasell or Smith we're in for some rough time because they don't have much experience...

Taking scholes away from midfield will murder our attacking options from there.. butt and gerard will not be enough to provide the turning point from midfield...

I think Smith will be perfect, but probably will have to give him a couple of matches under his belt for his development.

Heskey had a very good game for England the last day but cant be part of a passing team. I think England are short a quality strong back to goal and skillfull striker since shearer left the scene. As for the team performance well I thought they missed ferdinand to play out of the back his passing is class and Gerrard is a good player but forty yard passes in the pissing rain just arent gonna come off as for beckham doing gerrard job he didnt do it that well or his own really as carwhatshisface bossed the midfield. England got very lucky I think.

Gerrard (Scouse Git) has gone backwards!! I thought he looked like he had the lot about 12 months ago but it looks as if he's dramatically lost his form (what a shame).

England under Erikkson are somewhat predictable. Long balls from Becks and the Scouse Git looking for the pace of Owen and Heskey make them easier to defend against. They look like they are crying out for a striker in the mould of Teddy Sheringham. He could come off the front and offer more alternatives.

Im pretty sure Gaz doesn’t give two shits about what some scousers on the dole think about him.

He's also above Beckham in the passing stats this year, along with Didi Hamann, and had an operation over the summer on the problem that caused his recurring injuries. Hasn't missed a game this season - one step at a time... :D

Yes, but now all of a sudden, when it suits you, the passing stats are indicative of the quality of a player? Thought we agreed with the scousers last week or so that Veron being on top of the passing accuracy in Europe meant shite? I guess we've got to measure with different standards when it comes to scousers eh? ;)

Beckham doing Gerrards job? If he was, he'd be sent off every match, shite tackler.

:)

This topic reminds me of one of the reasons why I love Gary Neville! The man is a True and Undying Red Devil! Our Gaz is always articulating views along these lines -

`I am not going to accept the bullshit the media and opposition shove in our face. If I want to pour cold water on our opponents I will. No fuss, no worries. Just a Red being a Red.`

I think it is great Gary had a go at Gerrard. Steve Gerrard is a vacuum pit who went on about how he felt bad because he couldn`t do anything for England in the World Cup.

His real meaning was - `Damn, Nicky Butt grabbed all the attention by being such a rock for England and so I will rub it in that England lost to Brazil and imply that had I been there, it would have been different.`

Good on you Gary, keep serving it to the Liverpools, Arsenals etc of this world.

beckham was terrible. Butt was worse. Scholes came good in the last 15 minutes. Gerrard was just ok.
you see what you want, thats what i saw.

I just hope your Gary is playing when we play you lot on Dec 7th.......he was crap at Highbury last season and I hope he continues that form when we throw Henry,Pires ,Ljungberg ,Wiltord et al at you.Should be a good result for us,even if that thug of yours ends his ban then.

It's all very weel saying one step at a time, but England suffered because of his crap passing.

You can say all you want about the goal he scored but he is very largely reponsible, along with the gooner for Macedonia's 2nd goal.

As for Craptalk the more they bitch about Gaz the more they can try and forget about the poor display by Gerrard. Scholesy had to work overtime to try and make up for Gerrards inept passing. I said before the game that Gerrard didn't deserve to be in the side ahead of Nick Butt anyway

Poor Gillespie, always hanging around on Manchester United chatboards, desperately trying to convince himself that Arsenal are the best team in doing so. Always protesting too much. So obvious.

Gary Nev is a Red and a top defender, and that is why we love the man! We also love Keano - the kind of player other teams want but would never admit to it. But I can tell you, nobody wants petulant, petite chou chou Pattie (except maybe retired French footballer Papin in a changing room shower move)- a dummy spitting, gobbing, throw my shirt off and go home crybaby.

Enjoy last year`s Premiership - because it will neve match a Treble (a real Treble that is).

bloody glory hunter.
where were you in 99?
;)

Have to say all this arguing crap about Englands midfield is pointless. Svens tactics alot of the time took the midfield out of the equation lumping long balls against slovakia and the same against Macedonia. Beckham works very hard for england and is a good leader with good delivery and quality all round had a good 2 games, Scholes on the left fades in and out of games in that position. Hes much more effective through the centre or behind the front 2 and wasnt seeing enough of the ball in either game so only average. Gerrard was poor in the first game with passes goin astray and no imposing himself in the midfield as he should I didnt see the second but his and beckhams goals were excellent. One thing I heard was Sol Campbell was knocking long balls against macedonia!!! Not exactly total football!!! I think Sven need to call up Matthew Etherington to offer an attacking midfielder down the left and push Scholes into the middle alongside either butt or gerrard or even beckham and put Dyer on the right. That way you have creativity for an arial threat like Heskey or smith!!! But at the moment hes not making good use of an excellent passing and creative midfield!!

Oh yeah and on the point of Gary Neville englands best side is the right you always know your gonna get a consistently good performance down that side and if anyone deserves criticism its Gerrard for missing the tackle against slovakia and seaman for miss reading the corner. Think robinson and James will run him close

Hey,Giggsgirl......come on ,admit it...this forum....it'd be so empty....without me !!! ;)

Glad to see a sense of humour from an Arsenal supporter. Actually I enjoy having Arsenal and Liverpool supporters on this board - I also enjoy trying to annoy them which seems to fail with you and Davo!

I also think Arsene and Gerard are bloody good managers although I enjoy trotting out the Arsene Whinger cliche.

Where is jopub the gooner these days? I enjoy reading his posts but haven`t seen any for a while?

Giggsgirl, you have hit the nail on the head. The reason you get the likes of Davo and myself visiting this forum is because it's good fun to take the opposing view from all you Mancs and do a little bit of winding up.Listen,I can provoke more responses by criticisng Keane than you can by saying you'll think you'll win the title back.Makes this forum more interesting, don't you think? Also, when we lose (like yesterday),gives you all a chance to gloat ;)

and when we don't lose after a quarter of the season, and go 6 points clear of you, it gives you the chance to have a go at Heskey...

;)

Yes, Heskey is invariably criticised by a number of Manchester United fans but to tell you the truth, I don`t see how he can even come close to being a donkey.
I wouldn`t mind seeing a Manchester United forward in the Heskey mould - he is usually a handful for any opposition defender and his bustling style of play is a threat because it unsettles defenders.

I don`t have a problem with acknowledging good points about our rivals` players. I know some MU fans slate Heskey but I see him as being an asset for Liverpool, and while I don`t wish to see him at United, his style of play can be very hard to defend against.
