A lot of us are getting told off recently for discussing Glazer issues in the wrong threads or for going off topic and stuff.

The problem is, as i see it, that many issues can be related to the Glazers - especially in the off season when there's no proper competitive football going on - so it's inevitable that the Glazers are going to crop up in discussions, and when they inevitably do it's all too easy to get sidetracked from the issue raised in the opening post as there are then so many crossovers and duplicate reference points between specific topics.

Sults has even been threatening bannings for repeat offenders, but many of us aren't clear on exactly when we've offended or what we're supposed to have done wrong. We try, most of us i'm sure, to stick on topic as best we can, so what's all the fuss about? What is it that we're not allowed to do?

Apparently there's some similar dispute as to when and where you're allowed to mention Dimitar Berbatov too.

Can we get some clarification on this, please? If anyone gets banned on this basis then i'd think it pretty unfair considering the current state of confusion.

I must say I totally agree with Cider on this, you start a thread on David Gill, Sir Alex at the minute it stands more than a fair chance it will involve the Glazers and their finances. I would rather not be concerned about finances but it is a huge issue with massive implications. I do believe that the powers that be are over reacting and any transgressions that have occured hardly merited Sultans severe warning.

the Berbatov thing in interesting- it's hard not to speak about him when talking about

1)partnership up front
2) Hernadez and his role in the team
2) Owen and his in the team
3) Kiko and his role in the team
4)Welbeck and his role in the team
5) Rooney and his role in the team
6) formations
7) types of strikers
8) flops
9) psychological factors affecting players' carriers at big clubs
10) our new transfer policy and the extend it has been a result of signing Berbatov
11) finishing league point behind Chelsea and blaming Bebratoc
12) agenda-driven posters

etc. i think it's better not to mention Berbatov at all these days ;)

Yeah, i'd rather not be compelled to talk about it to be honest, but aside from the football (which hasn't started yet) the ownership issues are THE big debate at the club right now, it's hardly surprising that it comes up a lot regardless of the topic.

I just think that if we're being threatened with bannings then there should be some set rules to follow that will govern when we can and cannot mention the Glazers. As far as i've seen nobody has been abusing threads or bringing the Glazers up randomly in unrelated threads for no reason, but Sults has obviously seen otherwise; what he considers violational differs to what the rest of us seem to, and on the whole it all seems quite unclear.

Exactly, there're so many topics related in some way to Berba that it's practically impossible to keep any of the above threads from turning into Berbatov threads. If he wasn't so polemic then there wouldn't be such an issue, but he is. It's exactly the same with the Glazers, same problem.

i was half serious there but yes there ever greens on these boards and if using them is to be regulated there must be clear criteria as well.

i know that many of us abuse common sense when bringing Berbatov / Glazers into discussions but majority by doing so enhance the discussion by widening the context.

im sure you don't get a straight ban, mods do warn you beforehand. and as i could image Sults is a very reasonable person so his unrest is caused by something that does happen.

I think more the problem Cider is when you make a knobbish comment like "Hitler answered a question once. Gill must be just like Hitler!" from the outset, designed specifically to try and mix it up and get a reaction

Put a sock in it, Brad.

No I won't Cider. You asked the question and I answered it

You put a sock in being a shit stirring cnut, and I should imagine Sultan will leave you alone. If you're trying to make out he's being in anyway unreasonable... we're talking about Sultan here, about the most reasonable man ever to walk the earth

That post was nothing but a harmless jape along the lines of, "Bloody Hell, here comes some Gill bashing..." posted at the start of a Gill thread; hardly the root of any problem.

I've not got a problem with Sults, i'd just like to know his reasoning - i started this thread because Crerand had been told off and didn't know what for. If we're being threatened with bannings then we should really know what for.

My posts were listed along with others including ciders that were out of line to be specific. They were slighly off topic but read both the current Gill/ Sir Alex threads and they are both seriously off topic but there does not seem to be a problem. I wont be posting in those threads again and with this agenda issue which has suddenly reared its head I think I should refrain from posting on anything Glazer related again.

Let me be perfectly honest Cider. I am getting fed up with the United forum being taken over by Glazer/MUST merry go round. You are one of the biggest instigators deliberately goading others in taking threads off topic with your obsession with MUST.

How about I open a sub-forum and lock a few of you guys to discuss the issue to your hearts content?

It's not difficult, if you want to talk about such an article in that way, to quickly post it again (or post the link) in the relevant thread

I don't see the point of this thread, again I think Cider is just trying to stir it, he damn well knows the answers before he asks them

Apologies for using a curse word towards you earlier Cider

Your the boss, I wont be posting on Glazer related matters again but I wont apologise for what I posted before, it was and sadly still is the biggest issue concerning the club. If it was upsetting other posters/ mods then they will have no more problems with me

When have i deliberately taken a thread off topic though, Sults?

You may be fed up with it, but the Glazers/MUST/Green and Gold/Gill/Debt/Red Knights etc. is a massive topic for United fans at the moment; we try to post in the huge threads as much as possible, but the topic is so all-encompassing that it inevitably spills over into other threads where it often begins as being perfectly relevant to the opening post or thread title. That also it often then takes turns and gets off topic is equally as unavoidable since the debate is so vast in scale and multi-faceted. I don't see what we're supposed to do about it; it's not me acting alone, it's a large portion of posters; i don't go into a thread and say to myself, "Right, i'm going to make this a Glazer thread now..." Frequently the discussion has already turned to the owners without my even making a post; the topic is just that enticing.

The football season starts in a week anyway with the Charity Shield against Chelsea, we'll have loads of other things to talk about once that gets going, but right now there's just not much to talk about other than the obvious. I can't see how i've done anything wrong by discussing primarily a topic that i've become quite passionate about. A United topic in the United forum.

Which threads do you think have be de-railed btw? As far as i know the only active threads currently where the Glazers are under any serious discussion are the...

Sir Alex Speaks Out thread
Gill - Transfer Philosophy thread
Glazers Shocked Tickets thread

...they're clearly Glazer related topics, and only the first two of those appear on the front page anyway. I don't see what the problem is to be honest. I've only posted in six out of all thirty threads currently on the front page, and in four of those i've posted absolutely nothing about the Glazers.

For seemingly such educated/intelligent people you simply don't understand my message. I am not asking you to stop posting regards ownership/MUST/Glazers. We welcome debate. It's why we're here! I promoted GCHQ, TMRD, and a few others, as well as promoting Anders without any posts in the newbies.

Try keeping to thread subject is all...

Stir what, Brad? Doesn't it ever cross your mind that i might just be posting my opinion because i think it worthwhile, because i enjoy being here and i like to read, discuss and debate mine and the opinions of others? My opinion might often go against the grain, and if so, so be it, i wont let that hold me back from discussing the club i love.

Pull the other one!

I'm not getting involved in an argument or a debate with you in the open.

"Hitler answered a question once. Gill must be just like Hitler!" is your heart felt opinion eh? Did it cross your mind that no one has a problem with you having a different opinion - although we might critically challenge in debate on here when we disagree with it - but it's you comments which are deliberate intended purely on stirring it up, in threads where there's no need or call for it, that's the problem

And you know it, you're arguing the toss for the sake of it. Woe is Cider eh

I think that most if not all of the mods and admins agree with Sultan regarding staying on topic, not always easy to but please try and it isn't like those threads are over moderated. I think it would help if we cut out all abuse and Stpooed making implications/statements about other posters mental abilities would also be a distinct improvement. Posting with a hit less venom might help a few posters seem more rational and believable. It will also distinctly improve the overall discussions IMO
