Couldn't find a thread anywhere, sorry if I'm being special. Wiggins being not unexpectedly poor so far, think Sky have got to switch tack to Uran, just a far superior climber and has more of a chance to win the thing now than Wiggins. Also cements Froome for the TDF.

P.s. I don't dislike Wiggins, I really like him actually. I just don't think he's one of the best riders out there.

Sky made a huge mistake again by making Uran wait for Wiggins a few days ago. Same mistake as they made with Froome in the Vuelta of 2011. It cost them that tour then.

Now, I don't think Uran would have had any chance of winning this Giro, but this could have cost him a nice place in the final GC.

It's been a great Giro so far by the way. Usually more interesting than the Tour de France in my opinion. More mountains and less control by sprinter or GC teams.

Nibali will win it normally.

The Giro and Vuelta have generally been a lot more fun than the Tour recently. I can't watch, but from the live commentary it seems that this Giro has been good.

Wiggins is either in really bad condition, saving himself for the Tour or is just VERY poor without his team controlling the race.

His performance in the wet and downhill has been shocking.. He needs to step up in some grand tour or his Tour win will be soon as a joke as it will be seen as Froome carrying him up the mountains.

Nibali to win this easily unless things change.. Uranis the only one who seems able to put time into him in the mountains, but Sky has to let him off the leash! Hope Cadel performs well too. Used to hate him but his team forced him to ride this Giro and he will probably finish top 3 for them. That's commendable.
Hesjedal has been shocking though. 20 minutes behind today. He should abandon.

I always thought Wiggins would struggle at the Giro. These short sharp steep climbes you get in the Vuelta & Giro are different from the Tour. Wiggins is far more suited to the longer less steep climbes you get in the Alpes for example. Nibali, on the other hand, is the opposite.
I think being realistic Sky have better riders for all the 3 main grand tours, so I guess Sky will have to consider what to do with Wiggo's role in the team.

Froome will lead Sky at the TdF, without a doubt. At this moment Froome is head & shoulders above anybody else and is a massive favourite to win the Tour.

Don't know about this to be honest. He will have to deal with the likes of Contador and Rodriguez at the tour. It is a shame that Schleck is still recovering from injury too. Contador and Rodriguez are naturally attacking.. There was nobody in last year's Tour with a similar racing style. It is harder to control a race when there will be more attacks.

Great win for Cav, he is a stunning sprinter. Wiggo out of contention, as said above Sky will be ruing holding Uran back. Nibali's to lose.

I don't consider Rodriguez as a real contender for the victory in Paris. He's just too bad at time-trials for that. He can easily lose 4 or more minutes in one long time trial compared to the likes of Contador and Froome. Time he won't be able to make up in the mountains I think.

Cavendish amazing once again! Best British Cyclist of all time?

Dunno about that. He was supposed to lose lots of time in the flat time trial of the vuelta and didn't lose too much... Like Nibali, he seems to have worked on his time trialing.

Have never seen a sprinter like him. I hate it when ANYBODY dominates but there is simply nobody who can beat him in a straight sprint.

God I hope Cav wins the red jersey this year after how little he lost it by last year.....but he said he's exhausted and some tough climbs to come. He deserves his full set of sprinters jerseys, I wonder if he'd attempt to go for all 3 if he did win it and then the green jersey. I mean, he can pull out of the Vuelta whenever. For a Brit to be this consistently good is insane, it's great. Doesn't get 1/10th the plaudits he deserves.

That's true, he surprised everyone there. But that wasn't a real flat stage though. 1/3 flat, 1/3 climbing and 1/3 descent or something.

11 mountain finishes at the vuelta. A climber will win the points jersey like last year.

Didn't remember that.

Nibali still cruising along, fantastic race from him. Been impressed with Uran as well.

So Cavendish takes the points jersey! Amazing stuff from him, all the grand tours now.
