United will sign one more player this summer, insists Gill | Daily Mail

Manchester United expect to sign one more player before the end of the transfer window.

United are refusing to give up hope of bringing in Inter Milan midfielder Wesley Sneijder or Arsenal’s
Samir Nasri, and the club were on Tuesday linked with Palermo midfielder Javier Pastore — a Chelsea target — and Roma striker Mirko Vucinic.

United fear Nasri is bound for neighbours Manchester City, and although chief executive David Gill held talks with Inter officials and Sneijder's representatives earlier this month, negotiations stalled over the Italian club's £35million valuation as well as the player's personal terms.

Gill said: 'We are looking at one more player to bring in. We've been looking at a particular position and two or three players in that position.

he hasn't said "we will" nor has he insisted anything other than to say we're looking at bringing another player in IF something develops but has nothing specific in mind. That is what he said.

So there's a reasonable possibility - that's all.

This. He also said that if the right player isn't available then SAF is content to not bring a player in.

Gill is raising the muppet hopes but only to end up in failure come the end of august.

He didn't actually say that.

He basically did. He said the well-known "I'm happy with what I've got" thing, he said he couldn't see another addition at this moment - that basically means that unless something extraordinary happens (i.e.: a mercurial talent like Bebe becomes available) we won't sign anyone.

Not really to be honest. This's a slight exaggeration of your interpretation here

I think more along the lines of if an agent or club comes forward and offer United a good deal to buy a player. Happens quite a lot these days with the current financial climate, especially with Italian clubs.

There is a chance that we will bring someone but it's not a certainty, it probably depends on financial conditions of possible deal. If we can buy a midfielder at a decent price then we will go for it, otherwise we will start season with three midfielders that we already have and try to get by with converting players from different positions.
