At 2 mill (or was it 4?) what a steal this guy was. Amazing work rate - and every pass is to a fellow team mate. He would have fitted nicely alongside Keano/Butt as well as having strengthened the line infront of the defense. I know this has been brought up before, but what the hell are our scouts doing now adays? Friggin Forlan for 7 mill - Veron 28 - and Rio 30? Please !!!!

He looks like good player alright. But will he be so good over the cold winter months? Plus he has stepped into a team that are playing way beyond what any team has a right to do. It must be a pleasure to play for Arsenal at the moment. Lucky bastads!

On the scouting point old Longballpool haven't done too badly with that Baros kid. You have to wonder whats been going on behind the scences at OT for the last couple of years. Maybe everyone has been too busy writing books, SAF included.

Weren't we in for him, rumour was that we were. Doubt we needed him though, but certainly was a bargain.

it's debatable whether or not arsenal "needed" him, having just won the double. . .but they've strengthened their squad with a top-class player for a paltry £4.5M. . .

He's first choice now, mainly cos Edu wasn't going to be first choice at centre mid.

He's slotted nicely into a team thats on fire at the moment. Cyan & Toure likewise. Players always look like steals when in a good team.

Veron is getting better and more confident with every game. I think I'll stick Seba.

That wasn't my queston. I asked whther we would rather have had Silva or Veron. My answer is Silva. I'd take a defensive player over an attacking player anyday. Especially when we have players like Becks, Scholes, RVN, Giggs who can attack all day.

Thats a ridiculous reponse. We don't have a real need for another defensive midfield player. But one who could give us different ideas was needed and could still make a big difference.

I'd take Veron or no one at all as there's little we can do with Gilberto, who also requires a work permit and obviously needs to play in a high percentage of the matches.

I hate to agree here - but Baros looks a decent prospect.

Still rather have Veron. Silva's not the type of player we need for Europe.

We don't need this type of player, that's the main point of it. You don't buy an unneccessary player just because he's inexpensive. It's not Champion Manager. I agree we should not have bought Veron, but that money should be spent on a defender or a striker instead, not another defensive midfielder.
