Two interesting articles from todays broadsheets..........

The first from The Guardian examines Ryan Giggs "demise".
<a href="http://football.guardian.co.uk/Match_Report/0,1527,796949,00.html" target="_blank">http://football.guardian.co.uk/Match_Report/0,1527,796949,00.html</a>

The second from The Independent examines Seda Veron's "contribution".

<a href="http://sport.independent.co.uk/football/man_united/story.jsp?story=335793" target="_blank">http://sport.independent.co.uk/football/man_united/story.jsp?story=335793</a>

What is most interesting to me is that both articles mention the way United are handling the press this season. Ferguson only giving interviews to MUTV, spindoctors handling bad publicity etc.

Is it just me or is the real gripe that most journalists have about United not that United's "standards have slipped" but that United don't entertain these press buffoons the way other clubs do?

Just a theory. But imagine what they would have written if we didn't beat Spurs!

Yeah

They must be making all that stuff about worst start to the season in the PL up..

;)

I believe there is more Journalists interested in talking to a certain pregnant woman then following the exploits of the Man Utd Team and law suits being thrown about the place that captain couriers are making a fortune.

No its not a bad start. By United's standards its a below average start. By everyone else's standards its an average start. So I wouldn't use the word bad no.

So if us or the Arse had started as per you we'd class it as "average"?

Its bad

No I wouldn't use the word bad ;)

As for the Arse, their start is exceptional, they've been brilliant. But its unsustainable.

And Pool's start has been not bad. But not great either. Probably above average compared to Pool in recent years ;) .

If we'd started as you have I'd call it very bad..

6 goals in 7 games
2 defeats already

We've been slack at times and yet have still recorder our best ever PL start..

Perhaps your expectations are no longer as high as they once were...

Congratulations on recording your best ever Premiership start. I guess its all relative Davo. This is your best start relative to ten years of very very bad ones. Lets see if Pool can actually go one better than last years "best Premiership finish".

Yes it is relative..we haven't had a decent team for some time, we have had the last 2 years tho...

Our best start
Your worst start

Glad you don't think your starts bad tho

I didn't say it was great either.
To be honest I'm very happy with the way United have started this season at the back. Thats why I'd be reluctant to say its a bad start. We all agreed that after last year the defence had to be sorted so, for me anyway, the goals against statistic is very encouraging for the season ahead.

the fact is we have started terrible, never mind the results (which are bad enough), our performances are crap, I thought we played well against leeds but against spurs we were awful, the passing was terrible, our first touchs were rubbish, we looked like a midtable side and thats why we are there,
the only positive i can take is that our defence has started well, i think they are playing well. to be honest once we have our midfield back in shape I wont be worried,
we definitly need a new striker but i guess that will be january now,
i just hope that by the time keano and scholes come back we arent out of the running

Then we let ourselves down again, as we are doing at the moment.
My point is that we have had a bad start, but more fool anyone who thinks we cannot/will not recover.

Are you happy that you've had your worst CL start this season? ;)

Not at all, we're a bit wounded. But we haven't just lost to Bolton/Leeds/Zeta (delete as applicable). That would be suicidal.
;)

I think thats the gist of it, crap 1-0's until Keano and Scholesy are back and pray for no more injuries. Keano though may take ages to come back if he loses his appeal, and the ban starts after he's back from injury. Scholes and Butt will do though - unless SAF pisses about with Scholes up front and drops Ole again.

rory `s point is spot on I think ..The press are gunning for us for all the usual reasons , too much sucess , need fresh teams etc but mostly because Sir A shows his blatant contempt for them and doesnt cosy up giving them inside stories ....They are of course pissed off that they havnt an entree to the worlds most glamorous club and it shows in their current match reviews ....the bloke in the Guardian ? Taylor has a particulat gripe against Keano as he wrote an article during the WC shambles of how Keano tried to run him off the road near the training ground ......

The Mirrors editor still hasnt forgiven our pulling out of the Fa Cup ...so this is really the first year they have had a chance to equalise and they are hunting in a pack ...keep a tin hat handy it could get worse ..Do we care ????

Yea the damn media. SAF is not entertaining them because he is no doubt, sick of the stupid questions he is being forced to answer. Let the team answer the media's questions on the field. :p
