It is worrying. Ryan is in a definite slump right now. His low-key lacklustre performance against the Arse was extremely unsettling to watch, given the vibrant manful display the rest of the team delivered.
The Inter thing is a smokescreen. Truth be told, Giggsy is just as much a homebird as Scholsey. He would never willingly leave United.
The thing is, he's just hit that football middle-aged crisis wall. Without really realising it(though Keano obviously did) Giggsy over the last few seasons had started to take things for granted.
I don't really see this as the fault of the player himself. United have to take some blame for never really pushing him.
Giggs isn't a Dwight Yorke by any stretch of imagination, but David Beckham's Superstar Hello magazine celebrity status has suited Ryan right down to the ground in the last few seasons. It neatly deflected much of the national media attention he might otherwise have got. And Ryan isn't silly, he hasn't really overstepped the boundaries and attracted any attention; but I think he has lived on easy street somewhat and unconsciously become sated and lazy as a player. Post 1999, fat contracts, too many cars and Rolexes...etc. It suddenly all became too easy.
So much for the psuedo history lesson.
As I say, I don't really blame the player. A dip in form and some kind of crisis was always going to rear it's ugly head in his late 20's if he was still at United.
The real question is...how do we get him over this blip?
Sell him?...that's usually the answer, and it is normally best for both player and club...normally.
Giggs is different, he's one of those rare one club superstar players...like Maldini.
This may sound lame, but I truly think this is something he had to go through if he was never to leave the club.
Things may even get a tad worse before they get better but I'm sure things will soon come good again. Giggsy and the club and the fans will just have to muddle through it for now. If any current player deserves a degree of understanding and a little time it is surely Ryan Giggs.
My prediction is...Giggsy will come good again and never player for any other football club in his career.</strong><hr></blockquote>
I don't think Giggs has taken thing for granted, I really don't think so. I follow him since he first broke into the first team and what I am sure is that his speed has slowed down. Not only his running speed, but also his dexterity with the ball on the foot. It's either due to his age or his previous abundant injury history. Giggs is still a Red thru and thru and if it's a joke if people said he didn't care it anymore.
I can just say never underestimate him. Class is permanent and he also doesn't lose his flair and creativity overnight. When he turns it on (and he usually turns it on in Europe), he is those rare kind of player who can make something out of nothing.
