Most Games are played with ONE Ball but the REAL g
I am very much concerned of Giggs poor form in recent games. He is far from his best. In the game against Arsenal I was very disappointed with his performance.Perhaps the management should consider benching him for a few games, let him rest and hope it helps his form. With Becks almost fit, Ole can fill in on the left. I would love to see Giggs back to his best.

What also concerns me is that whether this recent Inter talk has anything to do with his form.

Who do you suggest takes his place? Richardson?

I wouldnt put Giggs on the bench for the Depor game...the champs league seems to bring the best out of him. He didnt play that bad against Arsenal, so i dont no why you want him benched in the first place.
He is due for a rest anyway , so i wouldnt be surprised when SAF gives him some time off when our injurie list has cleared up.

Pay attention Blythy.

Ole's crossing of late has been fantastic. We've wasted a lost of good possesion down the left over the last few weeks.

Giggs has been strangely off colour at times but you never know when he's going to turn it on. Maybe a spell on the bench would not be a bad thing despite the fact that he's been an integral part of the recent success. Putting Ole, Paul or JSV in his place would be a disaster. The only candidate, who's naturally left footed, is Kieran Richardson and maybe his time has not quite arrived yet.

Would you say Ole was naturally right-footed? At least half of his goals, maybe more, have come from the left.

Yes I would although he's clearly not one footed and can hit the ball with either foot. The same applies to Scholes but the problem with putting them on the left, as SAF has tried in the past, is that they tend to bring the ball back onto their right foot before crossing which to disrupts the attacking flow down that side. Crossing the ball from the flanks is a specialist art ! I would prefer to see Silvestre in that role, if you want to rest Ryan and not risk Richardson's inexperience.

I agree with JD. Ole is not a crosser with his left foot I'd say. If anyone, Richardson, but I too would go with Giggs. Perhaps bring on Richardson if Giggs isn't turning it on after 70 mins or so.

I hope giggs starts to perform again soon, in some recent matches it almost looked as though he was looking for something on the pitch, did he lose something on the playing surface???

Hadn't thought about that option. If you do that, once Rio is fit you could play JOS on the left.

I like the look of Richardson but it may be a bit early for him. Another possible option is trying Diego on the left. He's got 2 good feet and I still think he's got possibilities as a winger.

It will be interesting to see how Giggs reacts in the coming weeks. He has never really had to deal with any kind of substantive vocal criticsm before now in his United career.
It is worrying. Ryan is in a definite slump right now. His low-key lacklustre performance against the Arse was extremely unsettling to watch, given the vibrant manful display the rest of the team delivered.
The Inter thing is a smokescreen. Truth be told, Giggsy is just as much a homebird as Scholsey. He would never willingly leave United.
The thing is, he's just hit that football middle-aged crisis wall. Without really realising it(though Keano obviously did) Giggsy over the last few seasons had started to take things for granted.
I don't really see this as the fault of the player himself. United have to take some blame for never really pushing him.
Giggs isn't a Dwight Yorke by any stretch of imagination, but David Beckham's Superstar Hello magazine celebrity status has suited Ryan right down to the ground in the last few seasons. It neatly deflected much of the national media attention he might otherwise have got. And Ryan isn't silly, he hasn't really overstepped the boundaries and attracted any attention; but I think he has lived on easy street somewhat and unconsciously become sated and lazy as a player. Post 1999, fat contracts, too many cars and Rolexes...etc. It suddenly all became too easy.

So much for the psuedo history lesson.
As I say, I don't really blame the player. A dip in form and some kind of crisis was always going to rear it's ugly head in his late 20's if he was still at United.
The real question is...how do we get him over this blip?
Sell him?...that's usually the answer, and it is normally best for both player and club...normally.

Giggs is different, he's one of those rare one club superstar players...like Maldini.
This may sound lame, but I truly think this is something he had to go through if he was never to leave the club.
Things may even get a tad worse before they get better but I'm sure things will soon come good again. Giggsy and the club and the fans will just have to muddle through it for now. If any current player deserves a degree of understanding and a little time it is surely Ryan Giggs.
My prediction is...Giggsy will come good again and never player for any other football club in his career.

I think Giggs would really benefit getting a break. And he can be given the break right now too. Who can deny the ability that a two-footed player like Diego Forlan has? He has pace and should make a good make-shift left-winger. I suggest we start Forlan in the place of Giggs against Deportivo. Give Giggs the final 20 minutes to run at the heavier legs of the right full back.

He didn't play all that well either. It's getting to the stage now where if Ryan puts a tackle in or puts a cross over he's had a good game. I agree he should be benched to try to get back the old Ryan. Ole has played on the left before and done a reasonable job.

I don't think Giggs has taken thing for granted, I really don't think so. I follow him since he first broke into the first team and what I am sure is that his speed has slowed down. Not only his running speed, but also his dexterity with the ball on the foot. It's either due to his age or his previous abundant injury history. Giggs is still a Red thru and thru and if it's a joke if people said he didn't care it anymore.

I can just say never underestimate him. Class is permanent and he also doesn't lose his flair and creativity overnight. When he turns it on (and he usually turns it on in Europe), he is those rare kind of player who can make something out of nothing.

Yeah i agree with that. it's amazing how people are slagging off Veron when Giggs isn't playing that well either. Maybe it's the 28m pounds... ;)

I can't see the reason why we should rest Giggs in Derpotivo match. He's good in European match. We need a experienced player like him to lead the team.I think we should rest him in next EPL match vs Westham when Becks and Rio are back in action.

i agree.. he can have a good clean break over the next games actually.. againt WHU and Chelsea in the Worthless Cup. the two weeks off will do him good.

Giggs would never leave United. Never <img src="graemlins/nono.gif" border="0" alt="[No No]" /> But I think he needs a break. It would do him a world of difference. Keeping in mind our Jan schedule, we need him to be in top form. This why I am suggesting if we bench him now, later it would pay off.
