Keane exit talk surfaces ^top
United are refusing to comment on reports linking Roy Keane with Celtic in a player-manager capacity if Martin O'Neill quits for Leeds.
Elland Road chairman Peter Ridsdale is waiting to hear if Bhoys chief O'Neill is interested in taking over before deciding whether or not to make an official approach.
O'Neill is being hotly tipped as the man to succeed David O'Leary but Celtic claim their manager is set to see out the final year of his contract at Parkhead.
Rumours that the Reds skipper could move into management began to circulate in Manchester yesterday but the club have kept quiet - apart from pointing out Celtic fan Keane signed a new contract last season.
It would take a massive fee to prise him away from Old Trafford and Sir Alex Ferguson would be unwilling to part with the talismanic former Republic of Ireland star without a fight.
With Ferguson ready to make a move for Rio Ferdinand and Leeds likely to face a compensation bill from Celtic if they entice O'Neill, Keane's move to Scotland is being talked about as one way for United to balance the books for their expected cross-Pennine transfer raid.

Giggs has been the most underrated player in the world. He has been so valuable to UTD, no less than Cantona, Brian Robson, and Keano. I would even rate him as being more important to us than Backham. It would be a disaster if he does leave. Anyway, speculation is speculation, but the thought of him leaving is just downright scary, equally as bad as with Keano's leaving.

Its apples and oranges isn't it. Beckham doesn't have Giggs' ability to run at defenders and create havoc in the box. Giggs on the other hand, doesn't have Beckham's accurate crossing ability, , his world class set piece skills, nor his ability to knock in 16 goals from the midfield. They're both extremely valuable.

If we had to sell one of our established midfield stars, Giggs would have to be the one to go for me.

Why? Because he is the one who will deteriorate the quickest as times goes on (he relies one hell of a lot on his speed), and also is probably the one you could currently value the highest. He's probably also the cheapest to replace, which has to be done at some time or other.

Oh, He's my favourite United player BTW! :)

He's my favourite player too, but I agree with you. Particularly with his hamstring problems - which is why I think that the Duff rumour might be as a replacement for Giggs.

Utd without Giggs???......he's not just Ryan Giggs, the left winger.....he's RG the mesmeriser, he's Giggs the 17 year old who always looked classy, he's Giggs the invincible at FA CUp 1999,,,,he's Giggsy the red who oozes passion and pride. Last season may have been his worse.....but I would definitely miss him if the rumour was true.
It will take a special player to replace him....

:(
