The Telegraph reports that we negotiated a $9 mil fee for Gerami while we were in Madrid. I have great faith in the Telegraph so believe this could be true. A replacement for Keane?

No quotes from that article.

Heh Heh, I posted on Geremi quite a few months ago and said that he would be a good back-up for Beckham or Gary Neville...basically down the right.

I haven't really watched too many Boro' games, but from what I've seen, he's more a flair player than a combative Keano sort.

Ye, I don't have a quote but its on the back page of the Daily Mail, who don't usually print crap.

It basically says that SAF met up with Geremi in Spain before the Madrid game, to discuss terms.
£8million I think he would be a cracking signing.

But why? Do we need to firm up the midfield?

Yes.I think we need a change up, Sir Alex has been making changes to our united team the hole time his been the boss and thats what has keeped us on the top. I think his in that position again. So i think it should be out with the old and in with the new.No disrespect to the players i think who ever leaves will find suitable clubs but we need the edge, payers that little bit better.

Becks was crap in Madrid to. If that's the case who's going to buy Giggs .

Zidane on the 21/04/99 is also a good case. He was far better 2 weeks earlier when we just about kept ourselves in that with a late Giggs goal. He wasn't the same player in the 2-3 match.

BBC's on to this one as well.

"...United are understood have opened negotiations with Real, with boss Sir Alex Ferguson earmarking Geremi as the man to boost his midfield next season.

Ferguson is attracted by Geremi's goalscoring versatility across all the midfield positions, particularly with captain Roy Keane's massive influence starting to wane."

Still think 2 strikers/wingers will arrive this summer and that's with the utmost priority. Wonder a CD will be a requirement too else I would think Geremi is possible ... But for 9mil at current market - well ... I was thinking we will probably have better player than tat. Summer spending that is "confirmed" on my book ;) :
Bellion - 1.5mil (don bargain, jst give - McCarthy needs that very very very much )
Vassel - 5mil

Vassel? Interesting... I was thinking about that the other day after the England match... SGE must see something special in him, and he's definitely got the pace we've been after.

I like Geremi but either Keano will retire or move into defence and Butt will be sold to accommodate him. It doesn't say much for Fergie's faith in Butt really if he is going to buy for the midfield unless Veron is on his way cos Geremi is certainly not the Beckham type to be crossing balls over.

We need to have 4 specialist central midfielders on our books, what with injuries and suspensions.

I wouldn't worry mate, I don't want him either, and we have other areas where we are far weaker to be addressed first.

Geremi plays on the right for boro ? and seems to have had a very good season for them, certainely seemed to be on scroing run earlier in the year.

here's an interesting one....I don't really think it myself...but it makes more sense than Geremi being a direct replacment for Keano....what if Geremi played on the right and Becks moved into the middle ????

Anyway I think we're all writing Keano off to soon...

I know but maybe thats because he was nervous. If he came to old trafford he would maybe less nervous. Where would we play him though!

Sadly, there is no doubt that we need a new defensive midfielder of Keane's class (when he was in his prime).

Geremi ain't it, though.

Is this the same Geremi who takes all Boro's corners, has the 4th most succesful crosses, and the 3rd most assists in the Premiership?

Who is though?

Vieira is the only one who comes close to 'that' Keano and I doubt we'll get him.
