George Baldock dies aged 31

Be interesting to see if there was foul play (pardon the pun) or natural causes, because why the feck was he in Greece?

Rip.

Greek international playing for a Greek team.

He was apparently found in his pool. Greek articles claiming there was half a bottle of vodka next to him. It's also his daughter's birthday which makes it even worse.

I know this is one of those ‘laugh at an inappropriate time’ situations, but seeing this reply about a Greek national playing for a Greek club being found dead in a pool at his Greek home did make me laugh. RIP absolutely no age.

All that’s missing is someone blaming it on Harry Maguire

Sky sports headline came up on my iPad and they said it was his older brother Sam who had died. Corrected a few mins after. Fecking dopes

Fack me that's a huge shock just seeing it scrolling through Instagram.

Been a mainstay of Sheffield United in last decade and was playing in the prem a few months ago still. Was wondering what happened to him this season but seems he got a good move to Greece.

It's strange isn't it but you think current athletes are simply indestructible compared to us mere mortals yet they're as likely to pass in tragic accidents as anyone which seems the case here.

Started for them on Sunday v Olympiakos. Pellistri was a teammate.

Woah, RIP. Saw him play for the Greek national team a few times and always looked class. 31 is way too young.

RIP
One of those players I only remember playing for the one club.
Such a young age as well.
Damn.

feck, that's grim.

Life takes people to some dark places, but you never want to see it end like this.

England play Greece tonight, I wonder if anything has been planned? I can’t believe they won’t.

Apparently the Greek FA asked for a minute silence and black armbands. I'm surprised the players never asked to postpone.

Don't be intoxicated and then go swimming I fear.

Yep, I'd guess.

Got a week off with the international break and had a bit of a bender. Even the fittest/strongest can get into difficulty in the water.

It's Uefa. They were telling the players to get back out there after Eriksen collapsed which was disgraceful.

Dean Henderson played with Baldock in 19-20 season so tonight will be emotional for him.

There will be a minutes silence and black armbands for the game tonight. RIP.

OMG. Hope nothing sinister here. Awful news. 31 is just way too young. Sigh.

These idiots baffle me. His company has already been found (if it’s accurate), so he’ll be out of a job quite soon you’d imagine. And for what? How does his matchday experience possibly benefit from doing that? Beyond idiotic.
