According to ABU365 Gaz and May are in the squad for tomorrow night. Great to see Gaz back. I think he will make a huge difference to the team in terms of leadership and organisation.

As for all you panicking glory-hunters on here, panick not! We are in the midst of the worst injury crisis the club has seen in five or six years. The tide will turn

Fantastic - David May only gets an outting when there is something to celebrate - like a win!.

Totally agree. I really think Gaz can make a big difference to the team in terms of team play and team spirit.

i hope that May gets a chance. I dont think he's ever done anything wrong for United, apart from get himself injured a bit. He's done well in the reserves and deserves to be kept inline for the first team pool. with all the injuries we've had recently we need all the experienced players we have.

Ill be glad to see Gary Nevill get back into the team to bring proper balance & understanding to that right-hand side. Becks plays a lot better with the older Neville there. Dont expect immediate results tho, he'll still need to work towards match fitness & form.

Why would May be played? And he's not done that great in the reserves either. He'll be lucky to be on the bench. Gary was going to play in the reserves against Liverpool but that game has been put back, so its doubtful that he'll start tomorrow, but might be on the bench.

Gary will play IMO. He was almost ready for Leeds on Saturday. Any news on Seba/Butt?

Don't you read the news on here? ;)

I think Nev will at least be on the bench.
As for May id be as surprised as anyone to see him in the team or on the bench, but with injuries abound we cant disregard experienced players like that.

For all we know Blanc or Ferdy might be carrying a slight injury. If one of them doesnt make it we're left short. Think about it.

How come May wasn't on the bench against Leeds? He has no fitness problems. I hope Gary is on the bench, but of all our injured players I think he's the one they least want to rush back due to the nature of the injury he had.

Like i said Neil, its not beyond the realms of possibility that Blanc or Ferdy have picked up a minor knock during Saturday or since Saturday, hence May is required as cover just in case.

IF either Blanc or Ferdinand were for some reason unable to play we would be short a CB. Assuming G Nev is not fit enough to play, i would expect May to start at CB. This would leave O'Shea at RB as we do not have anyone else to play there since P Neville is currently filling in at CM (as we have no other choice there either)

Do you see my point now?

The thing David May brings to thhe squad is experience. We may need that if Rio or Larry get injured.

I see your point mate, but looking at the subs bench against Leeds I think you'll understand Alex's thinking. If a CB was injured then O'Shea would move over and Lee Roche or Tierney would fill in, because he'd rather play one of the kids than May.

assuming JOS, Rio, Larry & mickey are fit I think we should stick with them for now as our defence has been pretty tight this season so far. When Gaz is 100% then be's more natural than JOS at right back, but there's no urgent need to rush him back.

We have the 2nd best defensive record in the PL this season!! It must be a voodoo curse, we're defending like scousers, and they're leaking goals, but they're scoring and we're not  ;)

normally id agree. But he hasnt brought May out of cobwebs for nothing. I think he may go for the experience (if Larry or Ferdy dont make it) to see us through the first leg, especially the way the last 2 matches results have gone for us.

then again if one of the kids did get thrown in, there would be a spot on the bench for May.

There's no reported problems with our CB's, but if during a game one got injured then a kid would come on. If the injury ruled them out of the next game, then the kid would start, with May moving on to the bench, yes.

time will tell. im glad neither of us has Fergies job right now.

I'd love to have it, and not just because of the millions of pounds per year he gets. Though that does sound nice. ;)

David May is not going to make any tides turn. United have been trying to sell him for the last two years.

Good news on GN, hopefully he will step in for his less than magnificent brother.
