Manchester United are reportedly lining up a summer swoop for Milan midfielder Rino Gattuso.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson, who sees the former Rangers star as a long-term replacement for Roy Keane, has had the player watched several times this season.

The Daily Record reports that representatives of the new Premiership champions ran the rule of the Italian international during Wednesday's Champions League stalemate with city rivals Inter.

Gattuso, who joined Salternitana for £4.5m in October 1998 after a fall-out with former boss Dick Advocaat, moved to the San Siro less than a year later for almost double that fee.

The 25-year-old said: "My agent has informed me thatg there are a number of English clubs interested in me, including Manchester United.

"I have another two years on my contract at Milan and I'm happy here, but Manchester United are also a huge club and I woule be interested.

"It's flattering to be linked with Manchester United and I know my Scottish girlfriend would be delighted if we moved closer to home.

"If they did make a bid for me it would be a hard decision as I have a great relationship with Milan and their supporters.

"I am only 25 at the moment and I would like to play in England at some stage of my career, but for now the only thing on my mind is helping Milan reach the Champions League final," he added.

Don't know much about him...

Yeah, I wouldn't mind him at OT. Nice age, no price given though.

Ever think that people are aware of that but simply out it up here to discuss the merits of the player anyway??

ANYWAYZ, he isnt a bad player and could do alright but I would prefer Van Bommel.
