Continually linked with overrated players or players who simply aint good enough for utd.

gattuso----struggled at rangers,fat,well overrated

finnan-not in our league, struggled this season

bellion-is he the answer to our european destiny, not yet

we need realistic players who can improve our squad.

id go for kluivert as ruud's partner, mexes to rio's partner, and kewell to provide cover for both wings and add badly needed competition for places to our squad

Who cares who we're linked with?

I won't worry about being linked with lousy players unless we actually sign them.

And I don't see what the big deal is with Bellion. He's young, he won't cost much, if he makes it big it's a bargain, if not it's nothing lost.

Quite true man. :D

We should not pay too much attention to who were are linked too, we will sign thre or four players all under 26 who with add quality and depth to our existing squad and move us forward thats all that matters, i trust fergusons judjement

gattuso was a hit with Rangers... and he impressed a lot in the Euro semi final...

Most "links" are started by agents trying to get their clients in the world media...

If you look at the players United have signed recently... notably Ferdinand, Veron and Van Nistelrooy they have been well sought after and highly rated... I don;t think things will ve different now...

Gattuso over rated? Are you mad?

gattuso is overrated by a mile. i WATCHED HIM CLOSELY in the semi final and all he did was foul and was lucky to be on the pitch. He has no footballing brain and i cant remember if he passed the ball at all. He is not world class and not in utd's class.

baraja, vieira, gerrard, nedved, javier zanetti, davids are good accomplished midfielders

gattuso is im afraid not..i watch italian football regularly and he is vastly overrated

Gattuso was born 1/9/78

a couple of months older than him are:

Igor Tudor (Juventus) 16/4/78
Papa Bouba Diop (Lens)28/1/78

I think both are better players than Gattuso

younger than Gattuso and IMO better players

Andrea Pirlo (AC Milan) 19/5/79... was used a defensive midfielder earlier this season
Dejan Stankovich (Lazio) 11/9/78... again more of an attacking midfielder but can play deeper
Steven Pienaar (Ajax) 17/3/82
Owen Hargreaves (Byern Munich) 20/1/81
Eric Djemba Djemba (Nants) 4/5/81
Steven Gerrard (Liverpool) 30/5/1980
Jermaine Jenas (Newcastle) 18/2/83
Lopez Gerrard (Barcelona) 12/3/79

I just dont think Gattuso would add anything to the team and there are better options... oh and add Anders Iniesta of Barcelona to that list as well... Im sure there are loads more too... Gattuso is not special.

If we are going to buy a player I think it should be someone who improves on what we have in the squad... Id take Butt over Gattuso let alone drop Keane, Scholes, Giggs, Beckham or Veron to fit him into the midfield

Gattuso may not be Zidane but no one covers the pitch as much as he does. He is a battler able to run and tackle all day long, covering every inch of the pitch with the same anger of a young Keano. He is renowned in Italy for being a hard but fair tackler and the best in his position.

I prefer Emre because he is a better over all player but defensively speaking no one is better that Reno Gattuso. He is powerful, a great tackler and very determined, making Reno the best marker in the Serie A. Great players like Totti Beckham, Zidane and Figo weren’t able to breach this concrete wall

anyone can tell me more bout Papa Bouba Diop (Lens)28/1/78 ???

i know he's physically strong and very big size..
what about skills and can he tackle???

Gattuso is a good DM and I'd love to see him play for us. He's played for Rangers and so will settle in well in Manchester. He'd be a great longterm replacement for Keane...

Tudor and Bouba Diop are not as good going forward and I still think Gattuso is a better marker.

None of the other players have the experience, talent and work ethic of Reno Gattuso, save perhaps Eric Djemba-Djemba of whom I have seen much of.

Hargreaves is a hardworker, but isn't as strong as Gattuso and isnt that good defensively.Gerrard is too inconsistent and gets sent of too often for rash challenges.Pirlo, Stankovic, Pienaar, Jenas and Gerrardo Lopez are all attacking players and cannot really be compared to Gattuso as they play in a totally different role.

When did Beckham every try?

I don't remember us playing Milan, or Rangers for that matter, over the past few years. As for Internationals, the only one comes to mind is Beckham's first match as captain when Taylor was managed and he didn't pick anyone over 30.

thats the game Amir. Becks was there to impress but Gattuso killed him off. No disrespect to the English captian, Gattuso IS a world class marker

Beckham is predictable,so its easy to mark him.

;) </strong><hr></blockquote>

I know...his dribbling is quite ordinary. Its just jis passing and crosses that are so accurate that it makes it hard to defend.

Beckham is not predictable, ok he’s not pacey but he constantly moves out of the right wing and while he has a discreet technique (rarely utilised but evident against Real) its his crossing that makes him very dangerous.

Its not an insult that Gattuso had bullied him out of the game. The Italian bastard is fast, gifted with an endless stamina and stays very close to his prey (making it very difficult for any gifted player to perform). His tackles are aggressive and well timed making it very difficult for any world class player playing against him.

Italy is the home of good markers like Cannavaro, Nesta and Maldini but I think that in the marking area Reno beats them all

Position: MF Nationality: Italy
Date of Birth: 09/01/1978 Place of Birth: Corigliano Schiavonea
Height: 176 cm Weight: 77 kg
International honours: Full international caps

I totally agree with you guys..he will be a GREAT addition..certainly one of the few players that can make us stronger!

what bout his aerial ability as he's quite short?

Anyone who watched the most borest semi finals ever in the CL would have saw the amount of passion and determination gattuso played with.

dont mind seeing him around OT.
:)

We are bringing Gattuso to adds steel to our team and not to create.

One player just as good as Gasttuso defensively is Edgar Davids; and Davids is infinitely better going forward.
