Galliani, the Milan boss declared on Milan Channel that Shevchenko is "not on the market, and he is absolutely not for sale".

Apparently there were rumors of Sheva coming in to Utd, and Barthez going the other way  , plus some 20 mill.

Not a week without a "Barthez to go" rumour !
I've read that this morning, but I knew it was just another false rumour. Fab has dismissed them 3 weeks ago.

Still, I would be happy to have Shevchenko in our squad, but I don't see why Milan would let go such a player.

I dont believe anything i hear anymore, whether its actual transfer speculation or its chairman denying a player is for sale.

How many times have chairman, managers, technical directors or whatever come out and denyied a player is for sale, and then by miracle a few months or weeks as the case maybe later the player happens to move.

The simple deal is that if we want Shev. we will get him, because a bid will be made which milan cant turn down, it all depends how much we are willing to pay.

If we happened to make a £30m bid for Shev tomorrow, trust me he would be become transferable. There are only two or three clubs in the world who can turn down anyone and they are OURSELVES, Real Madrid & Bayern Munich!

shevchenkco is cup tied, he cant play in the european cup, do u think he will give up playing in it so he can play in the premiership, i doubt it. i think di-canio will be who we will sign and move for shev during the summer,
end of discussion, your all mad

Fair point, but SAF has already said he may purchase a cup tied striker, for use solely in the premiership for the remainder of the season.

Secondly he has also ruled out a move for Di Canio, fair enough that does not 100% guarantee that he may not change his mind, but you have to admit SAF is probably one ofthe few honest people when it comes to transfer speculation.

Finally Shevchenko, would find it hard to resist the lure of the arguably the world's biggest club. We are by no strech of the imagination a bigger club than AC Milan. Indeed its only this season that they can be once again considered a major European force, they have pretty much been a non entity on the big stage since the days of Capello. There are certain clubs that players rarely turn down if given the oppurtunity to join and we are one of them.

And yes before people start hammering on about Shearer etc note I did say RARELY!!! Invariably when we want a player that player usually wants to play for us, its only the club that sometimes scuppers the deal!!!

I take your point but think about it from shevchenkos point of view,
he is playing champs league footie with Milan, if they get knocked out then he has no reason to stay in italy. He is not going to give up champs league footie, i would be very suprised if he does.

Man Utd cannot just sign anyone , why in the hell would shevchenko move to manchester to play in domestic league and FA Cup when his current team is competing on all fronts, and has a much more complete team.
If you haven't read SAF's book let me remind you that he's tried to sign so many superstars but been turned down its not funny, they range from Laurent Blanc (3times?) to Ronaldo, Batistuta, Shearer and a long list of others.
Only few examples of world class players have actually been transferred to ManUtd(Veron, Ruud, Ferdinand) in the last 15 years, and that doesnt include Cantona as he wasn't even in the leeds first team when he joined.
Also, i'd point out that AC Milan can reject a big offer, Utd is the richest PLC in the world (steadly declining) but AC Milan alongside Inter and Real Madrid have unlimited funding from the State or Billionaire chairman.
Quite simply alot of fans get the impression that Utd are somehow the Biggest, and can buy whoever they want at any time..

Its not an impression, its the truth! Money talks in football above anything else and no doubt MAN UTD are the richest club in world. The fact is our plc chose not to compete for the likes of Zidane, Ronaldo. The only club in the world that actually spends more money than us is Real and the only reason they have been able to continue spending is because the institutionalised status, whereby the clearing of their massive debts will always get assistance from outside circles.

The players you have mentioned with exception of Shearer and Blanc (whom if you have not noticed is currently playing in a red shirt) have not come to OT because the board, more specifically Martin Edwards wasn't prepared to release the funds. Do you really think that if the funds had been released these players would not have come to OT. Our board for all their sins are very prudent, in a recent paper article it siad that the only club in the english game that can afford not to worry financially is us!!! The board have spent prudently when needed and lavishly when required!!!

Yorke: £12.5m
RVN: £19m
Veron: £28.1m
Ferdiand: £29.1m - rising to £33m

PS. how many players come out in the press, expressing their desire to play for Man Utd, my goodness the list is endless!!!

We are the biggest club in the world, in terms of financial muscle, fan base etc.

So your point is what?

It’s doubtful Real is really interested in Sheva. Ronaldo and Raul are enough IMO.

Incorrect. Barca, Milan, Inter, and formerly Lazio all spend more than Real Madrid. Real Madrid only stand out because they make a few big buys instead of a lot of small transfers.

Have you ever been to Madrid? Seen Chamartin? The area around Ciudad Deportiva and also around Plaza de Castillo where the stadium is located?
The land the club sold was in an extremely valuable area. The city is getting office buildings and the land they need for an Olympic bid out of this.

They were interested in him until Ronaldo expressed an interest.
