.....will be sweeter having tasted defeat again. We were getting complacent, fans and maybe the players as well.

This won't do us any harm as long as lessons are learned.

We all know about the bad run early in the season, and that cost Utd big time, but next year Utd must start winning the big games regularly again v L'pool/Arsenal home and away, like a couple of years ago.

We missed some ball control expert in the hole i.e Cantona,Sherry or a certain Di Canio.

All we had was that useless Forlan geezer.
 
totally agree livvie... you need to taste defeat to appreciate success!! over the years we have had an enormous amount of success, giving players and fans the feeling that United have a devine right to win every year.

Losing control because of disappointment? Calm down. When we beat Leeds and Chelsea away some people praise our players as god. When we got beaten by Arsenal at home you said every player was poor. But... they didn't turn good or turn bad overnight. Arsenal is a strong team totally deserved the title, and when they came to this match knowing they only need a draw, it makes us even more difficult to break them. And when we were frustrated up front there was always chance our defence was loosen and they got their goal. Don't blame the player, we don't have divine right to be the best team in England forever. The players have tried hard but Arsenal is a better team than us now. We need to do some change in the summer and then we will catch them up next season.

Totally agree....and we haven even mention Liverpool finishing above us and force us down to the humillations of qualifying round of CL. What!!!spend 50 millions+ and not a single trophy and ended up 3rd place??

I guess what I dont understand is why nobody mentions the fact we missed beckham especially over the last two vital games (Bayer and ARSE) we seemed to run out of ideas and tonight we had 3 or 4 free kicks that just maybe becks could have scored on. Please give him his due. Yes we got some good results without him but just when he was playing his best he got hurt and nobody in the world is going to tell me that with him we wouldnt have beat Bayer and for sure ARSEnal

there's a time & place for everything, lchk....optimism included....the united team that played last night were a bunch well-beaten even before the first whistle was blown....and it was just so bloody damned sickening seeing the likes of giggs, scholes, rvn, keane etc playing so far below their capabilities....yes, some showed great desire but when that manifests itself in so many mistimed, reckless tackles, it borders on pure stupidity....how long more will we going on saying Scholes just can't tackle that's all, but apart fom that he's absolutely world class...well feck him!! he'd better start learning, and giggs was just absolute shite yesterday, veron & keane tried but when others just don't seem in it, what more can you do....but the ones that really absolutely sickened jedi master were rvn, forlan and fortune....passing was wayward almost the whole time they were on, and rvn was intent only on causing grevious bodily harm to their defenders, and that was an abolutely obvious dive where he claimed the penalty, shameful...that's just not the united way!!!! sad is jedi master, so optimism can take a back seat for a while now.....

We have missed Beckham badly in this run in, he was in top form and had benefited from his rest in the early part of the season.Keane has had too much responsibilty to shoulder after coming back from his injury so early.A lot of the guys looked tired and out of ideas last night, but in saying that they were playing a very confident team, who are on a roll at the moment.Arsenal have had a great season, completing a fantastic run to win the league, and are going to take some beating next season, but that's what we must do, if we are to be champions again.Well done to Arsenal, but look out, 'cos we're taking our title back home again next year, ok!! :)

Without wanting to bring the Neville haters out I think we missed Gary down the right,with Becks playing more of an infield role this season it was Garys surges and crosses from the right that was missing last night we got down there enough but didnt have the quality to do much with the ball

Even worse to see a Red like yourself in such a state - you're even worse than me after the Leverkusen game! :eek: I hope you feel better later today - remember we won the treble the following season the last time this happened.

Yes we miss Beckham. But when an Arsenal without Pires, Henry and Bergkamp can beat us at Old Trafford, any excuse about missing key player become laughable.

greetings jedi....kind words you speak jedi neil....yes, close to the dark side is jedi master, but will not apologise for the tirades launched.....especially after such a hopeless performance....it's time reds everywhere stop stooping to bloody stupid excuses like it would've been different had becks played and the ref was shite, blah, blah, blah...make no mistake, we were absolute shite going forward last nite....very,very sad is jedi master and no amount of feel good posts will absolve the dissapointment that true reds everywhere must be feeling...to loose the title, jedi master can take to a certain extent, but to loose to the challengers at our own backyard and hand the title to them on a silver platter is bloody disgraceful, certainly not the united way!!!

Now I must say it's infurating to see people blaming JSV and the midfield. You can say alot of things but our midfield has been functioning and it is still the most effective unit in the league.

Why don't you ask Murt about changing the defence? He still thinks it's all fine and dandy and perhaps a signing from Cowdenbeath would be enough
