ok I think a new CB or 2 is a destine this off-season as most ppl here in the Forum agree on ... and we have vastly discussed that now ...

IMO it will be ( as I have put in other postings so far ) 1 CB + 1 versatile fullback ...

CB = Ayala or Tudor for me as the situation goes ..

Fullback ... I have tot of this long .. and of course many Forumers have said Contra ..etc ...
Personaly I have this guy in mind ( don shout crazy ) ... Since many said HE should be :
- Experienced
- not expensive
- Versatile
- Good on the ball and heading (I add this myself, we need more goals from corners )

Soo ... Hermann Hreidarsson - quite obviously suit the above. He was the best defenders outside Premiership before got snapped up by Ipswich the year they promoted ... and now he has had tons of experience ... He's a strong and tall lad ... used to score a lot with head (not this year but that's mainly cos the whole Ipswich team is not playing that well ) ...

Ipswich is in a bad position now .. looks quite bad and relegation looming ... No matter how though ... they will go for a re-structure next year even they can stay up ... so the chance is quite good for us to have him ... He went to Ipswich for around 3mil ... we could get him for around the same price now IMO

Some might get quite fed-up why I have been saying English based players lately .. Christie and now Hreidarsson ...
As far as I could feel so far ... ONLY experienced EPL based players can FEEL the atmosphere of English games ... and have the passion for it !! .. Continental players could have a lot of flair but when they come here ... they lack of that "GUTSY" mentality ... some even take years to get it - before which they might have already been sold ... <img src="graemlins/keano.gif" border="0" alt="[Keano]" />

But you said we should sign either Tudor or Ayala, isn't it a contradiction to what you said above?

I agree with you on everything about the defense but in my own opinion i dont think that Hermann Hreidarsson is good enough to play for utd and i also dont think Silvestre and fortune are as well.

He will be a good Premier League LB. He will be an above average European LB. Thus, comparing him to Beckenbauer is crazy.

How about Javier Zanneti of Inter? Hes a wicked player and would play well with Becks on the right. Provide the speed and dribbling skills Becks does not have. I don't really think we need anyone on the left, Silvestre has been improving by the match, and his upfield antics have provided a few goals for us this season.

Can't see Silvestre going anywhere, certainly not for Wayne Bridge. We had our chance with Lizarazu last summer and he opted to stay at Bayern. Give me two quality central defenders any day. Thuram would be fantastic since he would be able to switch to RB (even though he hates doing that) if Gary got injured or vice versa.

FOR the MAIN man in CB uranushk1, u think I wouldn't propose Hypia or Campbell if I think it's logical?? ... it's simply because nobody else gonna get them so I have left them out ... so you look around there isn't much candidates left so we have no choice but to look abroad ... But for less important role like the utility guy for covering in both fullback positions and possibily left wing-back ... I see Hreidarsson as a possible candidate 'cos of his already vast experience in EPL ... ie. he could come out anytime and take the role without needing too much time to adapt ...

That's what I am thinking my friends ... I am looking for POSSIBILITY here ... and be VERY REALISTIC to look for a possible "COVER" ... not a candidate to come straight into the team and take over any candidates ... You might have a lot to say abt Gary or Mickey but I tell you Fergie won't drop any of them IMMEDIATELY ... The incoming fullback will need to show HE IS BETTER before he will displaced anybody ...

That's why it come down to a "less known" personality rather than the CAPTAIN of Inter !!?!

Cuper is an Argentinian my friend ... he will keep all the fellow country man with him as much as possible ... Zanetti won't be coming friends !!! wake up !!!
