"Solskjaer closing in on record

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs three more Premiership goals so United can boast two 20-goal plus league marksmen for the first time in 37 years.

The Norway international strike ace scored his 17th top-flight goal of the season - and his 25th in all competitions - when he netted the third at Chelsea on Saturday.

Three more goals would mean he and top scorer, Ruud van Nistelrooy, who has scored 22 times in the Premiership, would become the first United forward pairing to hit the 20 league goals each in a season since the 1960s.

Scottish legend, Denis Law, and fellow countryman, David Herd, formed the strike partnership that broke the elusive barrier during the championship-winning campaign of 1964-65.

If Solskjaer gets three more goals in the remaining games then it would mean he and van Nistelrooy would outshine their predecessors because there are fewer games in a modern league season."

Who were Cole and Yorke again? ;)

They were mighty fine servants to the club as a pair, but Ole and Ruud have really taken the club to a different level in terms of striking quality.
:D

Now, if only we could get a decent partner for Ruud....an unfortunate poster once said...
;)

Who were Cole and Yorke?

They were the Treble winning Striking partnership.

They also has Ole and Teddy to share the games with.

This season Ruud (especially) and Ole have had no challengers to their striking role. Always bound to be amongst the goals.

That was a tongue in cheek comment ffs.

I like the "Chronic" part of your name - so apt.

Yes, United's strikers do get wonderful supply, but it would be highly presumptious of you to think that our GF column was not due to the excellent world-class strikers we have in Ole and Ruud.

And tbh, there are very few strikers who can regularly create their own chances. I've always maintained that our midfield have been as instrumental as any part of the team in our success.

I never said it wasn't. I'm the first to rate RVN and Ole. In Ole's case I always have. However, I just feel that Cole (for a long time) and Yorke (recently) get too much bad press. That's all.

Ruud and Ole are class. Them scoring this number of goals doesn't surprise me at all. Now if there were 2 other guys challenging for the position and SAF could drop and give players a rest, they might have less or maybe more.

And Livvie, I know it was tongue in cheek but I still had to say my piece
