Anyone over in the US seen any of the new TV show Fringe?

Its being heavily advertised on Sky. It stars Lance Reddick (The Wire, Lost) and Joshua Jackson among others.

Its co-created by J. J. Abrams who also worked on Lost.

Saw the first two episodes. Have the X-Files feel into it, but look promising.

The first episode was fairly good, till the last 10 minutes. Which were pathetic. Worst 'twist' ever. It was needless and shoddy, and despite having Fringe downloaded since a few hours after it aired in America, I still havent watched it due to being so utterly underwhelmed by the ending of the first episode.

So is each episode a different investigation, like X-Files, CSI etc?

It's so obvious that this is going to be another 'headless chicken' like Lost or Prison Break.
The first season will probably be decent, the next one not so much.

I would rather watch another "headless chicken" than 95% of the other crap on TV.
You and most people I assume. But these shows, Lost and Prison Break, have never reached the heights of their first season. Just look at the viewing numbers. The go down rapidly from the first season.

So as I said before, the first season of Fringe will probably be decent. In the style of J.J. Abrahams the viewers will most likely have few answers to their questions at the end of the season. I did watch the first 3 episodes of Fringe and I probably will continue, but there are far better shows out there. The Wire, Californication, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Dexter, Mad Men, Entourage, House etc.

Of course there will be no shortage of people liking Fringe but imo it's just another J.J. Abrahams 'headless chicken' or should I say a great player with no end product.

Very true re Prison Break - they should have stopped after season one. Saying that, i still watch it.

I still think Lost is good, though getting even more far fetched.

Dexter is very good. The Wire is the best show i have ever seen - just started season 5 - waiting until i have them all on Sky+.

Just look at terrestrial TV tonight, is appallingly bad.

Fringe is quite entertaining - there are far worse programmes to waste your time watching.

Raising the bar is a new legal TV programme that's started....well worth watching.

Me too, I'm just about to start season 5. I'm also watching season 4 of Oz and an INCREDIBLE amount of the cast from the Wire have suddenly appeared.

Daniels, Herc, Lester Freamon, Carver, Bodie, Avon, D'Angelo's mum, Carcetti's main assistant and probably others

Lots more of the cast now in Dexter, Law and Order and Lost

Have to say I just finished watching season 1 of this show and was really pleasantly supprised. Has a good cast and some very good scientific ideas.

Its a bit like a streamlined and slightly less serious version of the X-files which I liked. Also unlike the X files it never seems to lose sight of its central plot which I personally had a problem with even as an X files fan.

Well worth watching once you get into it.
