French Open

hmm.. no tennis fans here?

I sure hope as hell serena don't win

I'll go for a wild one and go for a federer and robredo final in the mens thing and Capriati and Mauresmo in the women.

Henman's in the fourth round for the first time ever......never know.

I think that Coria or Federer will probably win the mens with the chance of Hewitt pulling off a shock.

Federer is a game from being out.

Kuetern leading 6-4 6-4 5-4 now

Henman playing really well and through to the semi finals... but Coria will be too much for him.

Both serena and Venus have gone. :)

YEs! On the same day somemore.

:D

should be Capriati's title now, though i don't really like her either.

Not a bad comeback for both of them. They'll be #1 and #2 in the world again shortly with normal business resumed. :)

"But if Henman pulls this off I will stand on my head for the entire first set of the first match I cover at Wimbledon! "
-John McEnroe

He He would love to see this...

capriati is gone too
looks like no one wants to win it !
any way my bet is now on dementiavia

all russian ladies final..

first time in grand slam history.

The French Open women's final will be an all-Russian affair. Sixth-seed Anastasia Myskina carried the momentum of a victory over Venus Williams into Thursday's semifinals as she easily dispatched Jennifer Capriati. Myskina will meet ninth-seeded Elena Dementieva, who ousted No. 14 Paola Suarez of Argentina earlier in the day.

David Nalbandian and unseeded Gaston Gaudio will stage an all-Argentinian semifinal match Friday at the French Open. The winner may then engage in an all-Argentinian final.

He's out.He looks defeated.Well 'The Only British Hope'....see you at Wimbeldon. ;)

oh and btw...
Gaudio defeated Nalbandian 6-3 7-6 (7/5) 6-0

Henman seemed to be lost in the second set, when he was looking for a 5-2 win...
oh well, at least he played well in the first set

5-5 now...cmon henman!!....dont want to see a coria vs gaudio final...

Glad the boring clay court season is behind us. Bring on the grass and hard courts.

Ok then I see you didn't even watch the final...

Personally I feel they should scrap the US Open because that for me is simply THE most boring open of them all.

Nah, At least the Open has a faster rhthym of play than the clay courters. Its just not fun watching a bunch of no names lob moon balls to each other for a few hours. The pace of clay court tennis in general is crap. Hard and Grass are the best.

Clay court tennis is good fun to watch. As for no names. If you follow clay court tennis a lot of the names will be known. Its the fact you don't follow the clay season that the names are not known to you, its not an intrinsic fault of the clay court season.

I do follow all Tennis, but just find the clay court stuff the least enjoyable to watch. Its a bit of a racket really - most of the clay courters obtain their high rankings by hiding away in the European clay court circuit, all the while, avoiding the bigger grand slam and masters series events.

That is true with many of the clay courters but the likes of Ferrero and Coria do pay more attention to the other surfacs. For example the fact Coria has entered himself into the Stella Artois tournament shows a dedication to achieving somthing this grass season.

Also a players ranking comes from the last time each of the 4 Grand Slams (1 is clay) and 9 Master Series events (3 are clay) were played aswell as their best 5 other performances in the last 52 weeks. Assuming a player has his best 5 "others" on clay courts then a maximum of 9 of the 18 contributing tournaments will come from that surface. Basically someone like Fererro could not have got to Number 1 in the world without achieving something on other surfaces.
