Hi

i recently purchase a freeview box ( due to many reason's including my boycotting of sky due to it ruining football etc). anyway i have noticed that most days i am unable to pick up some channels. It tends to be ITV, ITV2 ITV3 ITV4, 4, e4 and occasionally channel 5. What i was wondering is, whether this is due to having a poor arial. My Arial is a good 10 years old, maybe older.

Or could my poor reception be down to my freeview box or my area not having good reception. ( doubt this as my neighbour picks up all freeview channels perfectly.

cheers

At a guess I would say you need a new arial if your neighbours is working fine.

Bloody hell, Ipod not working on 360, PSP videos not working, now freeview?!?

Does anything work in your house?

lol. not to mention my xbox 360 disk drive packed up last week. so no. all my technology is breaking.

To be fair i have got a good three years out of it. which is well above its life expetancy.

Could say that. But it could happen to any club. Also the fact that half of the games i pay for on my season ticket get moved; to accomomidate sky, and i miss them due to other interests.

Well whatever your reasons are

Anyway, the poor reception is down to your ariel

See, freeview channels operate on muxes, for example, all BBC channels would be on mux A , all ITV on mux B and all Sky ones on mux C so this is why you are having trouble. You'll need to upgrade your ariel.

Hope this helps

I'd recommend that you get one of these just to annoy the feck out of you.

Pert is right, you need to have your aerial looked at or at least your reception. Do you live near any tall buildings that could be causing a shadow?

Check out your aerial. I sometimes don't get channel 5 and Dave sometimes doesn't work but most of the time it's ok. It's probably just a reception thing, but if that many channels for you don't work then you might need a change of aerial

cheers pert. that would make sense.

No i don't live near any big buildings. Just a residental estate, regular detached houses.

you rate the slingbox then do ya weaste??

My nan has a portable ariel for her freeview. She lives 3 miles as the crow flies from Winter Hill and she has an unobstructed view of it.

I have freeview and this happens to me aswell, all you need to do when it starts playing up is update the box through settings. This happens to me on all ITV (CITV included) and all channel 4 channels. Never happened on five and couldn't give a crap if it did.

No need to buy a new ariel mate.
