Free a Polar Bear anyone?

One of the saddest things i've ever seen was a Silver-back Gorilla at Dublin Zoo. They had the smallest of enclosures i've ever seen for such an animal & it was on a massive slope. It was tiny & the Gorilla's just sat there all depressed. You could really sense the sadness & so could everyone else. Never seen so many folk commenting on that type of thing & many were complaining to the Keepers / Workers there.

They'd no room to run around at the very least & they looked so miserable. Horrible day. No a fan of enclosures in the 1st place, but Zoo's can make life a helluva lot more comfortable for the animals.

Thankfully, Dublin Zoo completed a massive area for Chimps & Gorilla's - its f*cking amazing. They bought up more land i think & used that land to create a fantastic environment for these animals. Its like you're on a safari lookin at this area. There's a mini-lake also. The difference it must have made to those great creatures is beyond imaginable..

Hopefully they get the numbers with that petition & they can move onto other animals in similar conditions asap!

Thanks once again for doing an easy thing, but also for doing the right thing..
 
I will sign only if the other Arturo trapped in Turin is freed.

The dark areas on his fur are from it being so thin that the skin underneath is showing through. Hope he can make it to the 'peg. Summers get hot there but he'll be more than right at home in winter.
 
I was going to sign it until I clicked the link and saw the horrible, scrotum-faced ballbag Newt Gingrich.

He looks fecked Doc. Polar Bears shouldnt be held in temperatures like that man.

Their winter is better than Ireland's summer too you cheeky bollox ye :(

You've probably got a Polar Bear in your basement to go hunting with, so i dont expect a bleeding heart from you big lad :p

He's saying he wants the bear to make the new zoo, "peg" is short for Winnipeg where the zoo is in Canada.

Although he definitely has a dead bear over the mantelpiece.

Oh right, sorry Doc. I didnt get that "Peg" part. :angel:

I thought he was saying he'll be grand where he is, as his fur wasnt f*cked & that the winters are grand there anyway. My bad..

He's got more than just a dead bear over the mantlepiece though. More like, he's got half of Africa in his house - all stuffed.. :smirk:

I used to live in Canada and I can confirm that you weren't anyone until you had at least one dead stuffed animal from every endangered species mounted in your games room.

hehehe no worries RHD. It's just so rare that I get to use lingo that hardly anyone understands on here...it's usually the other way around. :lol:

"Dead on" man.. ;) (meaning "thats good")

I can only imagine the toughness of understanding most of us lot. I rarely use Norn Iron (Northern Ireland) phrases on here, because most would think i'm even more of a nutter than they already think i am. :lol:

Moving to Dublin nearly 15 years ago, has been an eye-opener in that regard, as i had to converse in terms they use & slipped in a couple of my own. I spoke too fast for a start & they didnt get the slang, so i looked the fool etc..

Living in New Zealand was a feckin comedy show though. They loved my Norn Iron - brilliant it was. I talked their terms & they talked mine - it was fantastic. Love that country.

If you want to go to a Country that has everything in short spaces everywhere - New Zealand is the place for you Doc. The scenery is just like Ireland & Canada, but its so close from all positions you want to travel from.

I'm half tempted to go back & maybe live there. The Maorie's & Islanders are just the most spiritual of people i've ever met. Remarkable people - just like your goodself :)

There's nearly 900k signatures now, so its gathered some amount of pace in recent weeks. I think there was only around 2000 signatures when i signed it less than a couple of weeks ago, so its great that folk around the world are takin a few minutes out & signing up.

Thats one of the main plus points of social media - situations like this get universally publicised & very quickly too..

Arturo - whose only access to cooling water in his enclosure is said to be a pool just 20in (50cm) deep - moved to another zoo that offers cooler conditions.

Thought he'd have been been freed & transferred to Canada since i last checked this thread. I thought it was a no-brainer folks. Just wanted folk to sign the petition & the good Zoo's would do the right thing.

He hasnt left that hell-hole by the looks of it & no-one wants to open contact with me - even the girl who started the petition. I've sent a message to her to give us an update though. Doesnt look good.

Arturo had a long-time Female Polar Bear partner called "Pelusa" (Fuzz), during their captivity in the Mendoza Zoo.

The wee lady fell ill though, so the Mendoza Zoo sprayed her fur with a purple Dermatitus agent & subsequently became the main attraction - "THE PURPLE POLAR BEAR".

Pelusa died of cancer in 2012 & was coloured purple. She died not knowing why her fur had changed colour, nor how she ended up where she was.

Purple is a heads-up to keepers & for other animals to stay away or be cautious, as that animal is determined to be carrying illness or dying.

Yet they still shoved / beat her poor self, to get her in front of those bars, so the Mendoza Zoo could make money off this "Freak Purple Polar Bear".

This vid shows Arturo in distress, which the Mendoza Zoo believe that its just a mental symptom of old age.

He's grieving for his girl ffs. I've seen it & done it myself when someone you love has gone. He's panting heavily & rocking back & forth. He doesnt know whats goin on, but he knows its bad because he cant see her behind her bars - where they put her on exhibition as "The Purple Polar Bear" to make money.

This vid also documents all the efforts that were made from the folk behind the petition etc. & the help for Arturo to move to Assiniboine Park Zoo in Canada where he could live out the rest of his life in a near-natural habitat.

Mendoza Zoo & everyone politically connected to it are corrupt - that includes all the ground staff who turn a blind-eye or support the brutality. They blatantly deny help for their tortured animals & pretend its a great place to bring your kids, your new girlfriend, your new wife, your parents - your grandparents even.

Its not just an Arturo & Pelusa Polar Bear love-story either - but its a good eye-opener for folk who havent a f*ckin clue whats goin on - me included. That Mendoza Zoo & so many like it around the world, operate the exact same way. Animals are just a commodity & they do what they want with them, because no one complains to draw attention to it.

Its time alot of that shit stopped though.
