A damned unnecessary mess this all is.

And Flintoff's not the only one who has been brought up on a charge neither.

Granted the press doesn't help but even so.

Liability? He is one of the world's best bowlers. He has his problems, but how is he a liability? The problems are nothing incidents blown up by the media, anyway.

In other news.. Australia are having a problem with their all-rounder position. Watson's pretty much ruled out injured for the first test and I've been following their warm-up matches.. North's not scoring anything so far.

His ability is not in doubt, although how many more Test Series' he'll be a part of compared to ODIs has to be wondered at.

However the KP-Moores row already revealed that there are factions within the squad even if Strauss has restored unity since taking over, it does no good [and this close to the start of the Ashes in particular] to have this kind of thing to be leading the headlines. Other players would probably have fallen from favour in a decidedly permanent fashion for lesser indiscretions.

Flintoff's on precariously thin ice.
