If the Lampards and Murphys are worth 10 Verons, They should have been Captains of the Chelsea and LiverFools and England long time ago. Are they?
That means they are nothing special but just another ordinary member of their teams. The continental teams in the earlier good old days(without financial problems) would have tried to buy them over. They are simply not in Veron class. The problem with Veron now is that SAAF don't really know where to play him given the fact that United have 4 very good midfield players vying for 2 central spots.

Lamplard and Murphy are completely different to Veron.
We have the midfielders who do their job without the fancy flicks and tricks in Nicky Butt & Roy Keane.
Veron has the range of passing to rival Becks, he will show it. His preseason was excellent, and what he did against WBA was good. Give him until Christmas. (unless a swap deal for Crespo comes up) I think an onform Veron could provide the edge we need in europe. If he does, he may be able to transfer this to the premiership.
Don't forget Pires had a poor 1st season for the Arse and look at what he did last season.
