what is that all about, when was the last time Fowler was any good?

Can't understand why the Scousers are so upset, crowd favourite he maybe, world class striker he is not. I think the transfer represents good business.

Well to be honest with you in my opinion this is extraordinary business on Liverpool's side and for once shows they value their football future more than a crowd pleaser - which in turn shows (For the first time in ten years) that they have a genuine hunger for the Premiership.
Fowler was, and has been, a firm fans favourite for years now and maybe that has affected his football.
He has scored 171 goals in 330 games which may be impressive on the outside, but to be honest time has stood still for him for the last
3 years or so.
This represents good business and that they will not let their priorities slip away.
£11Million is a terrific deeal becuase I thought he was more around £8Million as he is rated like Dwight Yorke - though maybe O'Leary payed more for the youth factor
At 26 he could improve Leeds' young squad... though "God"?
For crying out loud no player that young who is so inconsistent can be claimed as "God" - here is my explanation of why they called him this:

With Manchester United cleaning up the silverware and Liverpool supporters getting increasingly frustrated of some fans boasting of their trophies and "King Cantona" they felt they needed something to hail. So along comes a young striker who makes a great start, and with the way things are going, they love him.

Actually that description COULD match Michael Owen's, before I am hounded let me just ask - Has Owen come in to the spotlight too early, like Fowler? And, like Fowler, could this expectation of the past decade get to him and land him in insecurity over the next few seasons? Can't see it happening but the same seems to have happenned to Heskey - it must be that Anfield expectation that weighs them down.

Agree with you two. Every Scoucers continued to say how great is Fowler N years ago and how his performance decline due to injuries. However in this season he has virtually stayed injury-free, yet its December now and his form is still a long way below the fittness and sharpness level he should be. I think he is the Liverpool version of Dwight Yorke, and a worse Dwight Yorke.

Hardly a worse Dwight Yorke, what an ill informed opinion that is.

He was a prolific striker who stormed into the Liverpool team. Amazing finishing ability skill and pace. A local lad and a good character.
Robbie Fowler was in a different class altogether than Dwight Yorke and he wasnt getting the long run in the team that he needed to get back to his best. Which is one of the reasons he wanted to leave. It may have been different if he had been able to recover from his long term injury.

Robbie will always get my respect as a true Liverpool great.

Yorke was excellent in his first year with us, may be better than Fowler at his best. The problem of the liverpool fans is that they keep urging to give Fowler matches ignoring the fact that the whole team may suffer and lose matches for playing an unfit player. In United Solsjkaer never get a long run of matches, yet nearly every time he play he is fit and useful. So it is Fowler who should take the obligation to get himself fit even when he is not playing in every match, isn't it?

utter crap. dwight yorke joined a team that had finished second and had been champions the year before. he also setled in almost immediately forming a good understanding with andy cole.

robbie fowler produced amazing form playing in an average (by our high standards, anyway) liverpool team.

Well, forget about Dwight Yorke anyway. The purpose of my post is to say that Fowler has lost it, and I'm not really intented to do a complete comparison with him and yorke.
