Form is temporary,Class is permanent...

As much as it is depressing and hurts to see United underperforming, I think it's important that we don't expect too much too early from the lads.
It hurts me like hell to see Arsenal in top gear so early in the season and continuing their excellent form, we are BETTER THAN THEM when we're at our best, and even the most obsessive ABUs wouldn't be able to deny that.
Although I admit Arsenal have been the better team in the last year, and they have some undoubtfully great players, the overall amount of talent in their squad is NOWHERE near the overall amount of talent in our squad.
The fact is that Wanker is getting the most and more from his players than Fergie is doing at the moment, and I think it's time that the Wizard show us his magic and superiority again.
So let's just hope that the lads stick together and pull it together, and show the team spirit that no other team have, but only United have <img src="graemlins/devil.gif" border="0" alt="[Devil]" />
Because Form is temporary, Class is permanent :)

Have you actually seen the Arsenal squad? They have plenty of quality, and four or five players who would go right into the United first 11.

Slightly biased statement wouldn't you say GN2. Lets have, at least, a modicum of reality on the site.

There is nothing wrong with our squad when it's fully fit.

Come on, when on form and fit, we've got 5 world class midfield players backed up by another 3 very good midfield players, have 2 outstanding strikers backed up by 1 promising player that can play as a link forward and a midfield player and will come good and always injects an extra something when he plays (YES, we do need someone else to add to this part).

We also have a normally rock solid right back, two of the most promising young defensive CBs, the very young and most expensive CB in the world, and ageing but very clever CB who can help the young CBs along, a very pomising left back, an RB/LB/at times midfield brother of the right back for when we have problems.

We also have a very good set of three senior keepers, and some very promising youngsters coming through.... etc....

Don't talk to me about the Arsenal squad being any better, because it's not!

Nobody can deny that our injury problems are quite extraordinary ATM. If Arsenal or Liverpool had the same problems, then they would be in the shit also.

If we compare our first 11 with Arsenal when everyone is fit and in form, we are not any worse than them, that's for sure. Though in order to cope with the current high-demand match schedule the depth of squad is just as important as the quality of the first eleven. In this aspect it is undeniable that Arsenal has a better second team, and they have already proved it last season when they seldom got their first 11 fit to play together. (They have half of the first team out when they beat Newcastle in FA Cup, and then beat us without Pires, Berkamp and Henry in Old Trafford).

BTW, we have virtually no injury problem in our midfield and forward in the first few matches of this season, but we also didn't play well (in fact I think we played better against Leeds than aginst WBA or Sunderland even though we lost.) So I wonder can you use injury as an excuse to explain all the poor results we got this season.

So, they're gelling as a team a bit quicker than we are, so what?

And they, as most of the top teams at the moment, dont look that convincing. Did you see their performance against West Ham? They were very lucky to get the draw.

It's a long season, let's wait until Christmas before we start comparing please.

I have watched their game against WH, that may be their only poor game in this season so far. On the contrary, our game against Chelsea was the only good game of us in this season.

Hope we can return to our top form sooner rather than later. We must start to win games now otherwise I suspect whether we can still "compare" with them at Christmas.

Do we "expect too much" if we expect them to lose fewer than 2 matches in the first month of a season?

Actually before the season start I'm conservatively optimistic. We have an impressive winning run between Dec to Apr last season and I truly hope that we can continue that form into the new season, so now I'm quite disappointed that it didn't happen. You said "show the team spirit that only United have", and "class is permanent", which I don't totally agree. Team spirit can be developed and lost, and the class of a team can be changed after some players left and new players came. Therefore although it is just September, we must already start to treat every match as a final and cannot afford any mistake from now on.
