has he been no.9 in every pre-season game? I dont think so. Maybe we're failing to get a new striker?

Still very short up front. We dont want another partner for Ruud, we want someone who can give us a threat when Ruud isnt playing.

Please say it isn't so.. He is shit.. <img src="graemlins/keano.gif" border="0" alt="[Keano]" />

It's all a bit wierd. Forlan has been number 9 for each match this pre season actually, but Roy Keane started matches with 16 - so it isn't 1 to 11 really.

Then again, Silvestre has been playing with 2, which is Gary's. So... I those numbers aren't 100% our's for the season.

And Forlan might as well get 9. It's just a bloody number. We need another striker but he can get number 54 as far as I am concerned.

I'm sure I remember games where Forlan has NOT been number 9 - I distinctly remember him being no. 21 in a game and thinking to myself:

"I wonder how he feels not being allowed the vacant no.9"

Then again I admit my memory is dodgy when it comes to numbers :D

I dont think no.9 is just a number. The shirts are revered for a reason and thats because the tradition and quality of a number is built up over years i.e. we didnt pick out no.7 or 11 as important squad numbers because we felt like it - it was because they were worn by great players.

Just look at Argentina wanting to retire no. 10. These numbes mean something.

i thought the numbers were already out for the new season, particularly so for the new batch of jerseys? The no. 9 is still vacanted if i ain't wrong...

I don`t think Forlan has had sufficient time with Manchester United to be labelled `shit`. Just because players are paid ludicrous sums of money today - even the minor ones - does not mean that necessarily they will perform to order.

I think Forlan is not ready yet to be a member of the first team. In my opinion that is a fact and no amount of Sir Alex talking about his qualities will convince me that Forlan should have been promoted over some of the club`s own lads - especially those lads who were promising and had to leave to get a game elsewhere.

I don`t blame Jon Macken for signing for Manchester City - it was a step up (believe it or not!) from Preston. However, he and others like him should have been given their chance.

Forlan back to his rightful place in the pecking order please - and give our youth a chance. They are better equipped to deal with the Premier League. <img src="graemlins/nervous.gif" border="0" alt="[Nervous]" /> <img src="graemlins/nervous.gif" border="0" alt="[Nervous]" /> <img src="graemlins/nervous.gif" border="0" alt="[Nervous]" /> <img src="graemlins/nervous.gif" border="0" alt="[Nervous]" /> <img src="graemlins/nervous.gif" border="0" alt="[Nervous]" /> <img src="graemlins/nervous.gif" border="0" alt="[Nervous]" /> <img src="graemlins/nervous.gif" border="0" alt="[Nervous]" />

I don't think he would feel anything unhappy about not being assigned no.9. He know clearer than anyone that his performance is not good enough. In a recent interview he also admitted that he was worrying about not scoring. There is still quite a long way to go if he want to claim the no.9 shirt as his own.
