Forlan vs Fortune

How about giving Fortune a run instead of Forlan and play him as a striker, then rather wait for Sir Giggs to come off and replace him with Fortune.

Fortune's a winger though, never showed much sign of being suited to a strikers role.

However, I'm glad to hear Fortune is back and he has already renewed his work permit. I have some expectation on him after watching his performance in the WC. We all know Giggs can be injured at any time, so it's a big bonus if Fortune can prove that he is a capable backup for Giggs.

If you were from Uraguay would you ask the same question.

;)

Why not trying Homer as striker?

Asuming he can score from the spot, he would not be much worse than Blondy. ;)

How about Cole,Yorke or Sheringham they are pretty good, and cheap.

Fortune isnt going to make a break through even as a winger ...as a striker , dreamland ...

watch how often he takes the ball up to the full back , checks and plays the safe ball sideways or back , rarely beats him for pace ......sound enough squad player but that s about it

He plays as a striker in the resrves and friendlies, and he also looked as if he was trrying to sneak into that role at times last nite.

Amen and thanks for the replies you guys are funny, but I know the next time Fortune scores you guys will think of me!!!!!!!
Don't forget Fortune use to be under the wing of Carlos Queroz when he was SA coach so maybe he got some ideas for him.
Man Utd Forever

You definitely have a point that Queroz joining us should have a positive effect on Fortune. I just can't see the point people rate Forlan more than Fortune here. In International level, Forlan is just a squad member while Fortune is a regular starter. In United, at least Fortune has proved that he can play a 90-minutes good match for us, and has a fairly good scoring rate as a midfielder, while so far Forlan has proved absolutely nothing yet.

Both Forlan and Fortune are squad players right now.....wish they could come on and do something different to change a game but they tend to rely on the existing players for the ideas......maybe this will change.....I hope...but right now both are not looking like strikers....

Forlan should have spent more time in the reserves learning how to play with a little more aggression.....I think he has all the skill...he just need to know how to channel it into better passes and shooting under english football conditions...It is amazing how often you can get past a defender if you are prepared to push your way past.

Er, didn't he do just that in the WC against Paraguay? <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

Yep but he also missed one for SA in some or other qualifier.

His strike rate is quite good for a squaddie, does someone have figures?

oh great idea... maybe we should just get forlan's old coach and he'll play fantastic like fortune "could"...

Most of the team were trying to play upfront. Gary Neville didn't go back from a corner for about 10 minutes.

Snoeker,

For United, it's 5 goals from 25 EPL appearances. He hasn't scored in 9 Euro appearances.
