Forlan not good enough !!!! - An independiente fans view

From Red Issue -:

Independiente have just lifted the Argentinian title and the fans are grateful to United and city for the money the club received from the sales of Forlan and Vuoso.

Julio Albornoz, described as ‘a dyed-in-the-wool Independiente fan’ would rather have the money:

'Most Independiente fans don't have bad memories of Forlan,' said Albornoz, 'because he did score quite a lot of goals - though they sometimes forget the ones he missed, which were a whole lot more. As for Vuoso [who has yet to play for the Liars], though, they were screaming for him to go - forgetting that most of the goals Forlan scored came from Vuoso's passes. Basically, Forlan wasn't all that good and Vuoso wasn't all that bad. Let's say they were average players.'

id say hes right too, although you cant help but like Forlan i reckon hell never quite make the grade at United. You can see hes not the most confident finisher specially when you compare him to Ole.

He's scoring goals now, he's young, learning with some of the best finishers in the game, with a lot of other skills like passing, crossing, link play. He was top scorer in that league for 2 seasons running, scoring left foot, right foot, header, inside or outside the area. His percentage shots/goals ratio will improve as he works with our coachs and alongside ruud and ole.

He definatly has some type of charm...i cannot help but like the lad. Great sheepish smile when he scores goals. I agree with Neil Thomson, he is still young, and will only improve. I like him, and i hope he stays around.

Forlan is not a natural scorer and he will Never be

But he has a good technique, hes quick and very hardworking. His shots from far makes him unpredicatable.

Not yet the finishing product but improving

I'd heard about these reports before and questioned SAF's (or was it Martin F's ?) decision to buy him in the first place. However, he's now scored a few, has pace and a good presence on the field and whilst the opposition put two defenders on Ruud, he seems to enjoy a roving type of role in which he can exploit the space given him. Who knows he might just turn out to be the perfect foil for Ruud. Besides if he scores the winner against Arsenal who gives a damn ?

Stupid idea to judge someone on past performances rather than current ones don't you think?

This topic (and the full article) was being discussed here. Bottomline is, when you get an English ABU writing an article with help from an Argie and based on Argie fans'comments you are bound to get this.

The Argies love to interpret the past in such a way that they look clever where they didn't really mean to, particularly if they can have a dig at the Brits in the process. The ABU loves using this to have a go at us...

Take any news/interviews prior to Independiente hitting form and winning the league and all you get is whinging about what a bastard it was to HAVE to sell Forlán.

lets hope it works out for the chap anyway you cant fault him for trying theres no doubting his commitment but i still dont feel he has it for the top level, but hes young we shall see...

Yea, yea what the hell does it matter? Forlan is playing out of his head now and he is improving with each match. He has talent and youth on his side what more could you want?

Actually...I think Juan Pablo Angel (of Aston Villa for those who dont know) is a better player and striker than your beloved Diego !

Dunno about that. One things for sure though, compared to what you paid for Jeffers he was a steal.
