Does any comedy fan remember Brenda Gilhooley?
I had forgotten her until I saw her name listed as a "Programme assistant" on Harry Hills TV Burp.
Gilhooley briefly had her own show in the 1990s as her alter ego "Gayle Tuesday...Page Three Stunna". She was I think a protege of Jo Brand and Gilhooley was tipped for big things but I think "Gayle Tuesday" was basically a good joke which did not make it as a series.
I saw her playing a stripper in Al Murrays "Time Gentlemen Please" and Murray is also closely associated with Harry Hill.
Harry Hill....Al Murray....Jo Brand......Gilhooley.........see thats what I dont like about modern comedy. It always looks like these people have the same managers.
But I think Gilhooley proves that for every one (Michael McIntyre as per another thread) who steps out and makes it big.........theres a few (Gilhooley, Bob Downe, John Maloney) who dont quite "make" it.
