There is something very annoying about the way Florence Welch sings. I think it's the way she sort of throws her voice about the place, and she seems to be sharp in many of her vocal notes.

Not a fan

She's Breathy.

She'd sound great on the receiving end of my cock.

Perhaps so.

I don't like the way the melody of vast majority of her vocal lines end on a downward slide, much like Cher. Not that they sound like one another. Listen to the cover version she did of 'You've got the love'

...puttin my hands up in the aaiiiiirrrrrrr (downward)

This carries over into the album

I know what you mean, to be honest its a style I associate for some reason with Folk or Celtic singing which is why i'm supprised its not to you're taste(though of course there are many different styles of celtic music of course).

Have to say I'm not a huge fan of pop, and can't see why she decided to cover a song such as "you've got the love" where there isn't really much which can be done with it from a pop genre perspective.

I think she's possibly part of a wider hippyish movement in music most of which again isn't to my taste so I guess iam not the right person to pass judgement.

PS did I mention she'd sound great on the receiving end of my penis?

I've heard one or two songs from her that I actually quite like, but many of them annoy me. She's off key in quite a few of them, particularly 'You've gor the love.' I'm not so sure she did the cover justice, but am I right in saying that that was the song that made her ?

If so.....weird. Weird world

I don't have a penis - so I have no comment on Florence's ability in this area. But I love her cover of 'You got the love' - the quirky, undulating quality of her voice is strangely appealing. She has been really impressive on Jools and I found the album to be a real grower. Granted, her dancing seems to be following an odd rhythm quite unconnected to the song she is performing - but hey, nobody's perfect.

Probably not, she was on a bit of a wave with a mercury music prize nomination before that single was released. I think she has a song called "Rabbit Heart" which is supposed to be popular and all her(and her bands) own work.

Have to say i'm waiting for one of the female posters to pop up and explain more as I know very little about her music.

Edit: I think Redhoop know more about her than me, I'm also hoping the lack of a penis is due to being female and not the result of a hideous accident.:)

Well like I say, some of the stuff I've heard musically has been really good, but her voice just aggravates me on SOME of the songs, but not all. Welsh cnut in the house won't stop playing her CD too which adds to the fury if I'm being honest

She does a great cover of the Cold War kids Hospital Beds,

I have to say I'm a fan, I think she is a breath of fresh air in the "charts music" as most of the shit in there is ..... well shit

Her version is identicle to the original man - vocals & percussion are exactly the same. Its a complete rip-off cover version, with absolutely no thought of adding her own stamp on it!

Got a very annoying voice and certainly did her best to try and kill 'You Got The Love'.

I've not understood why she's been hyped up so much on the radio. She's got an interesting voice, but it grates on me after a minute.

For starters man - her voice isnt original. Beth Orton has been singing folk music in that style for upwards of 20 years & if you want originality - look no further than her album: Trailer Park!

To name but a few :)

I know girls at Uni who are pretty big fans of her. I don't really get her.

My sister really likes her. Have to say, there's something about her music that irritates me, but strangely, I also quite like it. It's not as depressing or bland as a majority of the stuff about at the moment.
