Packing up the Honda Odyssey and going to do some extreme-surf-fishing (in my kayak) at the Jersey Shore for a week. Hoping for lots of Blue Fish and Striped Bass.


I thought it would be cool to start a thread in which more people can post about their fishing adventures.

Bluefish is pretty tasty and I don't even like seafood that much.

Blues are amazing fighting fish. It was fun. I hated coming home to Maryland. The fishing season is just kicking off. It was the first weekend of big fish.

There were lots of people catch Striped Bass, as well.


I could have tried to balance it on my head.


It was four straight days that looked like this:

nice nice...I grew in Virginia, and my old man used to go fishing in the Potomac River for god knows what, maybe bass...

Everyone else used to sport fish, my dad and his friends, never threw one back...to make things worse, they used fishing nets(this was in the 90s).

We were kids, and used to see everyone else glaring at the oldies, and tried to pretend like we weren't with them. But of course we were, stupid people from the subcontinent, ignoring rules/laws/etiquette.

He laughs about it now, and tries to pretend like it never happened, even though we remember driving back home on many occasions with Ice Boxes full of fish. He's reformed now, went to Canada to fly fish somewhere in Quebec. I can't remember the exact name of the place, but he used to rave about it for years.

Interesting story about your father...


My wife hates the Jersey Shore, so I'm taking her out to Ocean City, MD this weekend. More fishing for blues and striped bass. Hoping to hook up with that school of big Blue Fish, as they were traveling south 4 days ago.
