I wish he had a bit more patience and stayed here at United.
Risky given his injuries but could work out well, especially for the price.
Fergie just wasn't giving him chances. As sad as I was to see Rossi go, he had no choice but to leave.
Two cruciate injuries are enough to ruin any player. Real shame. If he settles in and gets his form back I'm sure that'll pave the way for Jovetic to leave.
I loved Rossi as a player. I think that he would have fitted in at Barca, I am gutted that he never got that move. Hope that he can get back to something like his best.

Really? He left before the start of the season 2007-08. He spent the whole of 06-07 on loan.
Liverpool could have taken him. Would have been a good signing, even though somewhat of a gamble.
i like him quite a bit, hope he lights it up at viola and then gets a move to juve or even back to us one day.
On the few occasions he appeared for the first team, he not only scored but played brilliantly. He just wasn't getting many chances.
The word on the street at the time was that Fergie believed his diminutive stature precluded a successful career at United. Assuming that's a true representation of Fergie's belief, it does appear to be the case that Fergie prefers more athletic strikers. Rossi, whatever one thinks of his ability, is only 5'8" and isn't particularly speedy or muscular. His gift is a nose for goal, but I'm sure Fergie felt that it would be tough for a player of that size to get into goal scoring positions. And before you can say "Zola!", Rossi was no Zola.
I remember reading Fergie was going to cut Scholes from the youth team due to his size. It took another coach to tell him that Scholes would be world class before Fergie relented. And after starting life as more of a striker, Fergie moved him to midfield.

Not sure really, Hernandez is 5'9 and slight. A good striker is a good striker and it's important to have differing options. I was frankly pissed off when Ferguson sold him as in my eyes he was/is definitely better than Saha, and a damn sight less injury prone. Just baffled me considering the talent he clearly has. Granted Tevez was snagged but that didn't last. The best part of £30 million was then splurged on a player that lost Ferguson's faith within 2 years. I wish the manager would direct some of his striker based indulgences towards the midfield area at some point.
Fiorentina are in the top 3 in Italy at present so he's going to a progressive club. The Barca talk was fuelled by his fine form in 2010-11 but injuries such as his can really hamper progress in a short career. It's a good move for him as I'm sure he ultimately sought a move to Italy in order to progress his international career.
Let's hope we see the best of him again next season. Terrific little player with clever movement, classy technique and a wand of a left foot.
Could be a really good deal for Fiorentina is he comes back from a long time on the sidelines the same player he was pre injuries.
The difference with Hernandez is that he's got incredible speed. Or "pace" as you Brits prefer to say.
Tevez was (and is) a much more muscular player who's nearly impossible to shake off the ball.
I was devastated when Rossi was sold off and have never fully recovered. At the very least, he would have been a marketing sensation in the United States. Americans playing in the English prem get a lot of attention here, even on ESPN's "Sports Center". And as you say, Rossi proved he had the ability. He just never got the chance to prove it day in, day out.

fecking load of money for someone who hasn't played in almost a year and a half.
Yeah it really is, but at the same time if he gets back to his best it will be an absolute steal.. just a bit of a gamble really.
Personally I would be happy with that fee, he was immense in that 2010-11 season and then at the start of 11-12 before his injury. Looked the best player on the pitch by a mile against City at the Ethiad, just a week before he fecked up his cruciate.

If he'd thought he was good enough he would have done. Wasn't going to improve in the reserves.
For me, at that point, probably wasn't going to play regularly, looked too small and nothing special. Went to Spain, did well and developed. Hope it works out for him.

He's the one player since I have been watching the reserves that I was sure had the quality to be a top class player. More so than Morrison and Pogba. He was just so complete at that level. His touch, his awareness, his movement and his finishing reminded me of Ole.

Fiorentina are building up a good team. Strike force of Jovetic and Rossi will be amazing if Rossi manages to retain his form back.

The Rossi wank-fest STILL on here is border-line embarrassing. Fans from other clubs may actually think that's the general opinion of the majority of Utd fans.
Go change your tampon and then read it again. I didn't say I thought he had fulfilled that potential did I? I just said that he more than anyone I personally have seen playing for the Academy and Reserves looked like becoming a top class player. He scored something like 57 goals in 54 games for the Reserves before he started his loans. He was a joy to watch, his movement, his touch, he could turn on a six pence and he was such a cool finisher.
The fact he was lined up for a big money move to Barca a couple of summers ago says a lot.
He was the alternative to Alexis Sanchez in a €25m+ deal after showing he was a level above the Europa League by scoring 11 goals in 12 starts - a better record than Falcao last year when he finished top scorer. Before these injuries a move to a top club was inevitable, he's proven himself well capable of performing at every level.
You obviously never watched him at Villareal then. He scored more than a "few goals" and it isn't just goals with Rossi anyway....it's his all-round ability to create chances/goals for himself & others. He isn't a classic box striker he can drop deeper and his movement & technique makes him difficult to pick up. His assist making in the Primera was pretty impressive. His performances & goals virtually kept Parma in Serie A in 2007. Tell those supporters that doesn't mean a lot.
