Soccernet article. No quotes, just analysis.

Good news. Should be exactly the type of RB we need. Hope it is true.

I think he is a great player, 5m for him would be a very good deal IMO

He's a quality player ... a no-nonsence type that exactly suit Fergie's requirement ... If he ever arrive then I will expect Phil Neville to deputise Left Back from there on ... which will more or less complete our full backs line up for the next couple of seasons ...

good question. but he played very well today. Saying that fullbacks are the only positions that we dont really have enough strength in depth to cover.

Gary Neville would be moved to the centre in all probability

Although my preference is for Steve Carr, his injury problems raises a lot of question marks over his long-term fitness. Finnan is a similar type of player whom I am sure would fit right in.

Finnan's a great player, heard he can play LB if needed. Defence with Gary in the centre and Finnan on the flank would be terrific imo.

Gary can play right or centre back, thats three positions he can fill.
Hell have to fight a bit harder for his place thats all, Finnan would be a dream signing.

With him and Silvestre we'd have the two best full backs in the league for the next 5 yrs :D

Have to agree. £5M is a snip for a player like that. He's very impressive going forward, and as solid defencively as they come.

Finnan would be a wonderful player for United, but I think CB and LB are the priority this summer.

When we buy 1 or 2 CB and a LB I can't see Fergie buying also a new RB, also considering that we could do with a further striker.

LB is not a priority. Silvestre has the job locked up.

Not going to happen. Who really wants Reisiger? And Rivaldo's wage demands would have the board in tears of laughter.

yes of course Silvstre will be the first choice LB next season but when Irwin retires we need cover for Mickey.

As for the right side we have gary and phil, who is obviously better there than on the left.

but i have to agree Finnan for around 5 mil would be very tempting.

A STEAL AT 5M, BUY PUT GN IN THE CENTRE THAT SHOULD SORT OUT ALOT OF DEFENSIVE PROBLEMS.

You'd rather a winger who plays like he's wearing a bucket over his head to play right-back over the best right-back in the Premiership this year?

He is more of a wing back i admit but he is a very solid defender and gets forward very well.

So is Finnan, and he's proven at a higher level (the right level). Agathe is good, but he isn't Man Utd class yet. Maybe in a few years, but his technique at the momet is abismal.

Agathe has found his level at Celtic, I think he'd be found out in the premiership so he's certainly not United class, his final ball is crap 8 times out of 10. We will need cover for Mickey cos if he gets injured we'll have no left sided player. Finan will be an excellent signing, I'd rather have Steve Carr though, he is pure class and when he's back I think he'll be better than ever. Its a pity his injury became so serious. :(

I still would rather Agathe. At 26 I think he would be a good signing. Thats just my opinion though!

He would be a solid reinforcment. But would he come, -how many games would he get, thats the bottom line? IMO he could force Gaz to the bench in time but hes not so good as to claim a place immediately and without a fight.

He's quit capable of forcing Neville into the centre, and from there on he'll not be moved. Fergie knows a consistant and talented player when he sees one. He'd come.
