I'm replaying through this now, lost my save game when my PS3 went bust (Had just unleashed the Weapons aswell!). It's great, that opening scene when they jump off the train and the music begins never fails to give me goosepimples:D

I don't think they will ever make as good a Final Fantasy.

Everything about it is immense. The storyline is interesting and has a nice cyberpunk feel to it. The world itself memorable, all the towns are distinct and the locations live in the memory. Same with characters especially the secret characters, which reminds me how the side quests in the game are the canine's testicles as well. The level of customization in the game is good for it's type as well, you don't have to go in depth with the weapons and materia but you can if you want to make your characters have more interesting skills. Yeah it's pretty much the perfect Japanese RPG game. It's kind of a mixture between FFVI and Chrono Trigger with a bit of Akira thrown in for good measure.

It needs a remake in my opinion though, nothng drastic just a graphical over haul, some of the dialogue made more clear and some new features. Possibly just on PSN but a full game for the PS3 or Psp would be nice.

I finished replaying it last week. Wasn't so impressed this time around, breezed straight through it and it gets a little boring in the latter stages. Still good fun though, love all the characters

fecking loved that game. Don't think I could ever get the same replay value out of it though, as it's so much more than just the story. Beating the Weapons, mastering Materia, breeding a gold Chocobo, getting Knights of Round summon, getting pissed off Aeris died after you levelled her so far (I KNEW I should've stuck with Tifa). Immense stuff. Only other games I've gotten such much single player play out of would be GTA:SA (and that was more down to a desire to 100% it rather than a particular love for the game) and Pokemon. It was just one of those games that comes along now and again where you can fully immerse yourself in and keep discovering new things.

I loved that game so much I remember buying FF8 and being immensely dissapointed initially. Went back and played it a couple of years later and realised it was actually a great game, and that my FF7 prejudice stopped my enjoyment.

Did anybody else fork out for the DVD movie sequal, just for nostalgia's sake?
