The picture itself explains the problem.

I'm currently running the game on 800x600x32 resolution, medium graphics and shader level at 2.

My specs are (laptop)
Intel Centrino Duo T7200 2.0Ghz
2GB DDR2 RAM
256Mb ATi Mobility Radeon X1700

Any techies out there that can help me with this problem?

You can't update graphics cards on laptops.

By the way, my laptop runs Crysis fine in 1024x768 resolution, as well as Mass Effect in 1200x800. I don't know why FIFA would pose such a great problem on my computer.

New drivers? :p

Try running it with different in game graphic settings and a different res?

What's wrong with it? Water-logged pitches happen I'm afraid, all part of nature.

Highest or lowest graphics settings, it's still the same.

Oddly enough it sometimes doesn't happen...

Maybe I just got a dodgy copy of it.

Does it happen all the time now?

I'd try updating your graphics card drivers...or even reinstalling your card

My computer does stuff like this all the time, most of the time I think my card is overheating and can't handle it. My advice? Shoot your screen.

Get on the Official Fifa Tech Support Forum or something.

Maybe they might be able to help if they've seen the bug before.

Either that re-install the game / drivers / directx or fear the worst - what weaste said.

There are problems in the PS3 version, today i was playing online and i made a perfect tackle and got the ball and then the opposition player slightly touches my sliding player and just goes off balance for a second and i recieve a red card from the refeere. That is seriously shambolic!

 That is true. It was a shit tackle. And people say Pro Evo is more realistic.

I reckon I got some dodgy copy, because other high-end games are still running completely fine with high graphics settings, yet FIFA 09 lags like a bitch when I put it even to 1024x768.

Also, the PC version is a different game entirely. It's made by a separate company on a smaller budget, and actually is the same version as the Wii and PS2 versions rather than the next-gen consoles.
