Barcelona just rejected an offer from united of 30m euros for the player, The player is not for sale they say.
I suppose Eriksen or McTominay replacement?Could be completely wrong, but isn’t he more of an attacking midfielder? Doesn’t seem like a position we really need to be thinking of?
I kind of wonder if INEOS is trying to reset the expectations when it comes to what United is willing to pay by throwing out offers like this, and instead rely on players to push the deals as well so they're convinced they really want to come here and not just for the money. Or maybe I'm overthinking it.Interesting player for sure. That’s a very low bid isn’t it? So is the Branthwaite bid. Going around dropping bids that everyone knows will be rejected. Spanish players usually have release clauses his is reported to be 400 million so just the 370 short Clearly Barca are going to want to keep him unless they get the big money and he’s not going to want to move either surely having just broken through and being at the club since 2016. It would be like Barca bidding 30 million for Garnacho after his breakout season. Confusing news!

There are 120,000 professional football players
Of them 0.01% are good enough to play for Man Utd
5% of those are willing to join
20% of their clubs are willing to sell
We want to sign 0.5% of remaining population
So why have we not signed anyone yet?
So 0,01% of all professional footballers are good enough to play for Man Utd and there are 120.000 fotballers?
120.000 * 0,0001 = 12 footballers good enough to play for United
5% of those are willing to join, 0,6 footballers
20% of their clubs are willing to sell, 0,12 footballers
Shit, we will only get 12% of one footballer
I couldn't avoid it....
Based on nothing but my own pessimistic outlook on life, I would say this reeks of an agent using the United name. I would love to be wrong, but I'm not going to hold my breath.Surely we wouldn’t be just blindly bidding on players unless there was a known belief and desire?
Is this just another fabricated story?

Clearly I wasn't committed enough to the 'Fermin Paradox' bit

It's very simple: "we need to make up a story to make Barcelona and Laporta look good"I don’t understand the thinking behind this one
Agreed. Why are the Spanish press so under the thumb of Barca and Real? The press in the UK mostly hate United. It's very simple: "we need to make up a story to make Barcelona and Laporta look good"
Sport is a fanzineAgreed. Why are the Spanish press so under the thumb of Barca and Real? The press in the UK mostly hate United.
But United have the biggest fan channels in the world. Maybe that’s why the mainstream press hate us so much.Sport is a fanzine
You don't have sport newspapers in the UK and none that is a Manchester United fanzine that sold enough to be able to pretend to be a newspaperBut United have the biggest fan channels in the world. Maybe that’s why the mainstream press hate us so much.
Like Marca and AS.You don't have sport newspapers in the UK and none that is a Manchester United fanzine that sold enough to be able to pretend to be a newspaper
No, Marca and As are actually newspapers who just happen to cater to their main customer base, like Mundo Deportivo. Sport is a fanzine apeing a newspaper. It started as such and even as it made the jump to legitimate newspaper, it still remained a fanzine at its core. All spanish journos make stuff up, to be sure, but Sport are special even by their standards in that regard. They're like the daily star or express in the UK, but with an extreme focus on one team and making them look goodLike Marca and AS.
I did the math and the reason is because we cannot sign .06 of a person. There are 120,000 professional football players

We should try getting him again; Barcelona is broke, and he's barely played this season for them. A 40M bid may do it. He's a really talented player, and I think he can develop to be world-class. Unlucky for him that Barcelona's midfield is plagued with talent; we should take advantage of it now that his stock has fall a bit.
