Comments from the boss after re-watching the incident....

"Roy is the first United player to be sent off for this offence and I have said recently the use of the elbow is a growing problem in our game,"

"We won't appeal, the referee had no choice but to send him off."

"The replay I was shown immediately after the match was misleading. When I saw the TV pictures from a different angle, I saw the referee had no choice."

"I still think it was petty rather than grievous,"

It sounds like Roy will be fined two weeks wages (the beeb reckon that amounts to 180k) and hopefully the ban plus the fine will make him buck up his ideas and use his aggression in a positive way in the future.

Doubt that the a 2-week wage docking, would make even a minor dent in his piggy bank.

But the ban would hurt. However I think Roy has become a great believer in his "tell it like it is" attitude. He takes that as virtue. And that could only mean he would use that as justification for his behavior and feel that he is right in his actions.

Therein lies the problem.

I've heard that Roy has a injury in his hip which will keep him out for a couple of months, due to surgery.

SAF has said that only Roy would be able to go through all season with the pain. But I believe he's just waiting to see how long he'll be banned for, cos of the Haaland-case + the McAteer-inicent. Then maybe he'll use this break to get his injury sorted!
