Arsenal - The IMMortals.....Sounds very nice ( and
at your disposal how do you have one of the world's greatest wingers BUT NOT play him on the wing <img src="graemlins/nervous.gif" border="0" alt="[Nervous]" /> <img src="graemlins/nervous.gif" border="0" alt="[Nervous]" />

How do manage to have 'chance to goal conversion' the most potent striker in football - Solksjear BUT he sits on the bench <img src="graemlins/nervous.gif" border="0" alt="[Nervous]" /> <img src="graemlins/nervous.gif" border="0" alt="[Nervous]" />

Veron one of the greatest midfield players BUT play him out of position too <img src="graemlins/nervous.gif" border="0" alt="[Nervous]" />

You played poorly tonight and over the two legs deserve nothing from the tie .

Although I am AFC I must say it was dissapointing and if I did support Man Utd I'd be utterly pissed off at Ferguson

You'll get abuse for that.

But more will agree than admit to it.

Just remind me - where did Giggs play in the Riazor?

Doesn't always work tho. His natural position is on the wing and I prefer to see him there. He can run at defenders all day long, but it's no good if he doesn't have a decent finish. Which he doesn't a lot of the time. Giggsy is best down the wing and putting in crosses.

When did he look dangerous tonight? Only when he was running at / by defenders down the left. he was running east / west when he was in the midle, that just isn't going to cut it...

Proves my point then.

And another point. I would have played Phil Neville as a right back rather than Wes Brown.

Irwin should have played as I contended all along - but that's ancient history now...

You're right. See my another post. It's a tactical error from Fergie which is very costly. We played with 4-5-1 today, giving all posession to Leverkusen, and have played three players (Scholes, veron, giggs) out of position.

I have to agree, they were scared shitless when Giggs had the bal but sadly we didn' t give it to him enough.

Ole has more than proved this season that he shouldn't be sat on the bench.

Veron, whatever all the hype is I'm not sur what his ideal position is at United-, it certainly isn't as playmaker...although i trully wish it was.
The defense, I cannot add to to what has been said, yes they try hard but that, and that alone is what has cost us success this year.

I'm gutted!!!!!!!!!!!

Playing the much hated 4-5-1 (interchanging with 4-4-2) with various players out of position we reached the semi's and were a tad unfortunate last night. Playing 4-4-2 the previous 2 seasons we were out in the quarters. Facts don't lie.

In the PL its down to our sloppy football before xmas losing 6 matches which we don't normally do. Before Arse fans shout that they lost some as well the point is that they are expected to do that every season and did this season. We are NOT expected to lose 6 matches before xmas each season. If Arse were in this position its a fair bet we would have been out of site at the beginning of March. Arsenal were not so lets not get too carried away!

:D Irwin was crap. Brown is our best choice for RB. He can tackle, run and handle the ball. None of the other two can say the same. Infact, I hope SAF makes him into a RB instead of a CB. The boy has flair.

I thought Wes had a good game - but how the feck do you contend that Irwin was crap? Ze Roberto's influence on the game waned considerably after he came on - and aside from the yellow card incident(in which I thought he got some of the ball) he didn't put a foot wrong...

What's all this about handling the ball - I thought that was against the rules.

We do need someone on the right when Becks is not there, last night was a prime example. Veron does not function that well playing up field he's much better in a central position just in front of the back 4. That way he can make use of his ability to make the long passes that look magical. SAF is a great motivator, and great at mind playing games with opposing managers, but tactically he seems a little lost. ( I know I will probably get slammed for this, but its the truth). Last night Bayer packed the midfield, this is a tactic that should be very familiar to us, since Liverpool have used the same tactic the last 5 times we have lost to them. But once again, we just did not have an answer. We need to get a few defenders, Johnsen is excellent but he's not going to last an entire season. Blanc was good last night but there is no guarantee he's staying. O Shea and Brown are a few years away from being consistent. It would be wise to go after someone like Peter Taylor to take the burden off SAF. Lets start the Road To Old Trafford right now.

errrrr, champions 3 seasons on a trot????

Your comment was in regards to THIS season and the tampering in formation tactic etc by your manager has been done THIS season or am I missing something .

Course you won it three times in a row and for the latter two were nigh well invicible but now ??

Invincible is not a word I'd use currently ( see my post abot SAF's 'formation'

Im sure he would have used bergkamp more often <img src="graemlins/smirk.gif" border="0" alt="[Smirk]" />

Actually your point about Bergkamp is incorrect he has not been fully fit for two and a half seasons now .

He is of a delicate nature, our Den - gets injured - out for six weeks - recovers, takes ten weeks for a player in his 30's, team is playing well(winning) so he can't get in . Up comes a chance in CL -he won't fly so loses chance - Comes back in after somebody else's injury . - Is off the pace, takes him 5/6 games - in his 3/4th game back he gets injured AGAIN !!!!

That has been the story of DB for a long time. He's been very unfortunate in this respect .

This year however he got fit early on and managed to stay that way, got his chance, came in, was off the pace but with each game under his belt has got better and better .

Can now last the full 90 mins, runs chases tackles!! (although Roy Keane would noot need to worry about that !!) and of course is back to being the genius we all know and love and his creativity with Pires has brought us this far .

His goal at Newcastle is arguably one of the greatest goals EVER scored .( Only he thinks that his staggering dumping of Argentina out of France 98 was a better one !!)

It'll probably be his last season at this level but hopefully he can go out on Saturday and give the world an unforgettab;le winning performance especially when you think of him missing final after final through injury etc.

Gooourrn Dennis

One last Hurrah :D :D :)

Its easy to talk about a tactical shortfall with hindsight.

If we could manage with hindsight, even Kemo could win the champions league!

You have got to say that sometimes, things dont just go your way, simple!

Ps how many trophies has SAF won in his career, i think i may have just lost count!

He's well connected is Kemo. He'd have a busload of new players at OT within a week.
