Rock Of Gibraltar has been retired to Coolmore Stud in Co. Tipperary, it has been announced.

As I haven't the slightest clue in horses, does that mean no more racing?

I suppose so. I just don't really understand the racing vocabulary. I suppose he'll be sitting by the pool drinking Martini's with little umbrellas for the rest of his life (The horse, not Fergie).

Retired to stud means he gets to run around a little field, eat whatever he feels like and has mares brought to him for his continuous sexual satisfaction. Given that this is basically what Fergie sacked Dwight Yorke for isn't he being a little hypocritical?

I read that they get 30,000 pounds each time the horse does it!

Liz - your offer of 15 quid for Ruud looks a little on the low side now

Erm...sorry to gross you all out but a lot of horse breeding is done by arti-insemination.The horse gives a sample and that is sold on rather than the horses going at it.

Now we know how fergie got Dwight to agree to move to Blackburn - they still do things the old fashioned way there.

Does RoG realise that yet ?

my wife, when she saw the signpost for the "Irish National Stud" in county Kildare, wanted me to take her there. I declined, naturally. No point in embarrassing the poor horses ;)

I suppose SAF heard on the Radio that Rock of Gibraltar has just announced he is retiring, Must be related to MR Ed.

You know how much this horse is worth? £60million! And Fergie owns half of it.

Nice.
