This talk of Fergie rebuilding the team is a red herring.

Fergie would not sell Giggs, Butt, Nevilles, Beckham, Scholes, unless they asked to go and were out of contract.

Those of you who think otherwise don't know how much Fergie values the core of the team coming from among the ranks.

When he talks about rebuilding, it is not about him getting rid of these players. It is about what happens when, five years from now, they are past it (all at roughly the same time).

In five years, we'll have:

Brown, O'Shea, Ferdinand, P. Neville, probably Silvestre.

We'll have to have new midfielders and a new attack.

I haven't a clue how you distorted his comments that much, I can only think that you have a severe case of denial.

He'll consider all offers I reckon for the oldguard, regardless of who they are for, even Keano. The only one I think is totally safe if Becks because of the money he generates for the club.

What do you mean?

My point is exactly that -- contrary to what many have suggested on here -- Fergie is NOT about to offload the core of his team. And with those players, to whom he is a father-figure, he never would!

my point exactly too! The 'special relationship' between them and SAF is not something that can be built overnight with new comers (world class or not!) and this relationship is also one important factor making us so successful over the years. Imagine who can manage the likes of Keano and Becks?

i doubt it! He's not one of the players SAF is targetting, if he is indeed targetting. In any event, as someone said in another thread, it's more like a smoke screen! And i tend to agree with what mancred is saying above! Seriously!!

Fergie is the least sentimental bastard in football. He's not some jovial Santa Claus figure, his record proves he will do whatever is necessary to win. He's loyal to players who repay that loyalty with effort and hard work. He is ruthless with players who let him down. There are plenty of names at United who fit that last category.

Don't think that this father-figure stuff will cut any ice if we lose our big games this season.

Sure we all know that the Nevilles are Fergies luv children.WE ALL KNOW THIS.Fact.Second point,Giggsys girly legs. The management, the players the fans, including myself, will never want to see the back of them, lets face it the're lovely, lovely.Beckhams new hairstyles are always the talk of the town,we would never have it any other way, they are marvellous.I love em.David May is the club mascot, and Veron is waiting in line for the same honour,we cant see them go.All great lads,rebuild...never!
