Not to drag this on but lots of peeps were wondering what Fergie thought about the whole deal...
"I don't believe there is a case to answer. I think there has been a going-and-toing between those players over the years, particularly from Haaland. He's had plenty to say. Every time we played them he made comments about Roy in the papers but we didn't complain."

He said that although United players did not need permission to write books, the club's lawyers had read it and "didn't think there was a problem".

Independent

I cant see what the big deal is. Does anyone seriously believe the old "ive never gone into a tackle hoping to hurt anyone" bullshit.
It happens in amateur football, you plough into some fecker whos most likely out to get you just as much and it has to be the very same at the top. Keane and Halland hate each other and if the had have met since the last time Halland would have been out to get him.
The fact that Halland played a week after the incident makes a potential libel a non starter imo.

Its good to see a good honest to god no holes barred biography for a change.

I think the club lawyers need a vacation or something, even if there is no legal case here, those kind of remarks should be scrapped to prevent their possible influence on the team and team spirit.

I have already posted on the Haaland thread so wont repeat ...

I will say however that there are a great many United fans thoroughly disgusted at the whole shambolically written biography and the image presented of the man ...a vainglorious drunken thuggish lout who cant use an ordinary word when a swear word will do, to heighten the hardman laddish impact that Dunphy the real author believes sells ....compare with Sir Alexs biog , a rational reasoned well presented good read ...

Keane was extremely badly advised to have started the whole thing with a playing life still ahead of him . In any other context his employer would sack such an employee in the interest of morale ......

I am thoroughly depressed with what I have read and after his behaviour in the summer will find it hard to marvel again at his skills and commitment .

It is after all for most of us just a sport , a diversion from everyday life . Keane ( more likely Dunphy ) will have tarnished it for many .

Ihope Murts views will be a minority one .

Agree with TTR, people are too quick to knock players' books when they havent even read them themselves. The serialisation is always going to stand out, but if people sat down and read the book they would see its not that bad. I read OLearys book a couple of weeks after he was fired, and it really wasnt that bad. I read Jaaps book, and it was fine imo. I wish people would take a closer examination before jumping to conclusions.

grand thanks, great holiday but you know the usual way it is, you need a "holiday" more after the holiday than before it, im feckin knackered.

Anyway, how can ppl claim to be disgusted by what keane is saying?
Hes telling the truth as he sees it, would ppl rather be reading a made up story about what great buddies professional football players are. Everyone knew that Keane meant to clatter Halland, him admitting it changes feck all.

The Norwegian newspapers have finally woken up to the fact that he's injured in the 'wrong' knee, and his agent admits that it will be difiecult to make a case out of it all.

From the Norwegian daily VG:

When the United-star attacked Haaland a year and a half ago, it was the right knee got caught. However, it is the left knee that has caused the City-star nightmares.

"In theory Haaland could injury his left knee, although Keane caught the right knee, the twist is the most damaging" medic Trygve Kase, who has done one of the three operations on Haaland's knee, explains

However, 30 April last year Haaland told VG that his knee injuries had nothing to do with Keane's attack.

"If the injury is in the opposite knee to the one Keane caught, then we have a very difficult case" lawyer and football agent Gunnar Martin Kjenner admits.

Reading the soliloques gives the measure of Hamlet ...ditto with the extracts from Keanes "Autobiography " .,

As for telling it like it is , why does he not say directly which of his teammates let the side down , are softened by the rolexs and garages full of cars? ...who are They ???

a sorry day for Keane , United and the wider footballing public that the damned book was ever conceived , and if poor deluded Lynott is offended by my post he`she should read Roy Collins in the Guardian today on the topic of ghosted biogs and what should be attributable or not .

Not offended at all, just cannot believe that someone can be so self righteous in describing something they haven't even read. Crazy stuff.

I think the guy is being very brave and honest from what I have read so far. Nothing deluded about that.
