Why doesn't he just say that we are probably going to lose, that way leverkusen players cn underestimate us ...

We're best under pressure, right? Remember against juve, lost one - nil home went down two -nil in Turin and the rest is history :-) We can make it cause we've been playing well away this season... And after all, is back!!

Go United go, I want to go to Glasgow...

sorry for being picky, but the home leg versus Juve was a 1-1 draw. Point taken about winning a tough game away from home though.

I think that Liverpool proved that there can be scored in Leverkusen, and if only RVN score on such chances Owen got, then there is light at the end of the tunnel...

Yeah, sorry... Can remember Giggsy well :o Anyway, the settings are the same, draw at home and the away-game, well it's history... ;)

Granted we did come back against Juve, but with all due respect to the current team there are several reasons why the situation is diffrent now. First of all, coming back to level one away goal is a lot easier than overcoming 2 goals. We had a better defence back then with Ronny,Jaap,Schmikes,Irwin and Neville. Right now, we have Blanc (who can be brilliant but can also look like a Turtle),Brown (Looked so lost, when Neuville scored),Phil Neville,Miki, and Barthez. They way the defended last night, god help us in Germany. Veron looked so good against Depo, when he was played in the center, his performance is so uncertain, never really know what you will get. We do have the positive of having Keano back, I know his desire to get to the CL final will drive everyone else on,but will it be enough. Bayer dont have to score,so they can soak up the pressure and hit us on the break.

I think well score two out there...

I just hope Ronny's back, Brown once more when it came to the crunch looked out of his depth. Still needs more experiance IMO for this level.
As long as Keano plays well have the drive in midfield, something we lacked yesterday.

So again it comes down to our defence....

We CAN win in Bayer, i dont think they are as good as the Juventus side we beat in 99

Question is though, will the United side that is selected be anywhere near as good as the United of 99

Cant afford a two goal deficit to start with tho

with Keano and Ronny back, they will get one, if lucky 2

Without them I really dont want to think about it.

well the best defence in europe conceded an uncharacteristic 4 out there. . . .they are frankly awesome at their place.

They scraped a draw vs. a 10 man Arsenal team...

They're not unbeatable...

True but the best defence in Europe also cant keep the ball in midfield.
Saying that we didn't either yesterday.
But if we paly anything like we did against Depor
we have a good chance, we need the first goal, to make them go for it like they did against liverpool, then we just need to keep the ball pass it about. CONTROL it. Easier said than done. But if any team can we can.

We can beat anyone anywhere on our day. Let's just hope next Tuesday's our day. It's all down to winning. Down to one game that we must win. I like United in that position. We come through more often than not. But what an anxious 5 days we've got to wait..........I want to book my ticket to Glasgow.....

The reason they scored four against Liverpool was that the latter's midfield played shit - especially after Hamaan went off.

The story was similar for us last night.

To kill off Bayer - all you need to do is not allow their five/six man midfield (Placent often joins in the attack) time on the ball. With Keane back in the team you'll see a different class midfield keep them from retaining so much possesion in the second third and Bayer will find it much more difficult.

Prediction: Man Utd 3 - 0 Bayer

:)

I expect us to go to Germany and win, not unlike Juve 99. We should score 3 or 4 goals, since we'll probably have Ole and Ruud upfront and will employ a decidely more attacking approach.

With Keano back and hopefully Ronny as well, I honestly think we've got a decent chance. I can't see us not scoring at least two. And since it seems like all the papers are saying Leverkusen are now favoured to go through, maybe...just maybe they'll start feeling the pressure a bit.

We've got every chance in germany...I accept that they can score as well, but if it turns into a goal fest like the BL/Liverpool game then that would be better for us than a slow, grinding and tense affair with no change in the overall scoreline up to 60-70 mins.

It wouldn't even be a disaster if they get the first goal. This is very similar to the Juventus semi-final...we know that BL are likely to score themselves, and given the away goals situation we are now in, we now need to go there expecting to have to score three to win. No-one on this site believes that is beyond us.

We have to forget it's the semi-final, and treat it as a final.

I like what I'm hearing...
Let's go to Germany and win 3-0!!!

:D
