I notice its closed, I don't know why...

personally I'd like it reopened so I can but forward the case for women commentators, and women in football in general given the overwhelming opinion seems to differ on here

The video is meant to be ironic, but it's really, eh, counter-productive when (admittedly idiotic) posters claim, "it's funny cos' its true!"

Yup, that's pretty much one of the problems.

It reminds me of the Alf Garnett character whose views were supposed to be obviously ludicrous - yet Speight used to have people coming up to him telling him how much they agreed with the character.

The more subtle problem though is that people will happily agree that such OTT views as those espoused by Enfield's character are obviously wrong, but still retain an awful lot of sexist baggage themselves (which is actually all 'OK' because it's not really sexist like that chap on the comedy programme.)
 
I have no problem with the idea of female commentators.

The only issue seems to be that I don't know of a single woman who would be any good. Jacqui Oatley? Give over.

Not that the men are very good either, with a few exceptions.
 
Some people don't like a bit of change especially when something is already okay in the first place. That said she needs to work on getting the excitement up when there is some action - it didn't sound right.
 
Unfortunately the original thread was closed before I had a chance to read it.
I can only guess that the thread was slating the female commentator on motd last night.
If so I agree....she was fecking awful.
Only Mark Battenburg (or whatever the clowns name) put in a worse performance yesterday.

It is still there so you can still read it.

And obvioulsy it was closed because the female commentator wasn't very good. :rolleyes:
