I was going through my albums the other day and I realised out of 600+ albums only about 10 of them are by female artists, and one of them is Shania Twain :o!!

So guys recommend me some albums so I can adress the balance. So far I have;

Shania Twain - Come on over
Portishead - Dummy
KT Tunstall - Eye to the telescope
A Fine Frenzy - One Cell In The Sea
Velvet underground & Nico - Velvet underground & Nico
Etta James - Tell mama
Laura Cantrell - Not the tremblin' kind
Alannis Morrisette - jagged little pill

PJ Harvey, any of her albums are quality, but start off with stories from the city, stroies from the sea. It's her most accessible album.

Joni Mitchell - Blue

Cheers guys.

I've been meaning to get into PJ Harvey ever since she won the mercury prize all those years ago. They're being downloaded as I type so i'll have a listen and report back.

Did fleetwood Mac have a female vocalist?

Bjork - Debut
Bjork - Post
Bjork - Vespertine
Bjork - Volta

My sister used to listen to Bjork all the time, I remember she had to get the album specially ordered from a independent store. It was the one with "army of me" on, I used to like wailing that one when I was a kid.

Kate Bush - Any of them.
Cocteau Twins - Treasure is my favorite
Lauren Hill - Miseducation of Lauren Hill.

Here are some suggestions. I have no idea what music you like so you might only like a few of those. Can't be arsed to pick albums, sorry.

Annie Lennox
Cardigans
Cranberries
Dusty Springfield
Fleetwood Mac
Garbage
Heart
Hole
Janis Joplin
Jefferson Airplane
M.I.A.
No Doubt
Pretenders
Patty Smith
Sinead O'Connor
Siouxsie
Sleater Kinney
The Sugarcubes
Tori Amos
Yeah Yeah Yeah's

Any album in particular?

I.

get a ' best of ' one first , then you can decide which era you like of her.

tunes like chain of fools , do right man , natural woman , house that jack built , respect , i say a little prayer... etc are all great ones.

Try Nico's solo albums. Horribly beautiful.

hehe that sounds promising, her voice is certainly unique.

Cheers guys, so far so good, i've downloaded Joni Mitchell and PJ Harvey and i'm liking what i've heard so far. I'm going to set a load to download while I go out and have a session prematch tomorrow.

Doogie, I'll listen to anything so i'm open to whatever is good.

That will be going on the queue tonight, I know and like most of those songs so I will surely like the rest.

Joni Mitchell is brilliant. You should download some Patti Smith as well.

I don't think I have any actually.
